You just have to marry into one of the 4 families that have controlled CA for the last 80 years.

Bill,
How many points do they end with this season?

- rmedaska

They are "sellers" so it's hard for Bill to come up with a point total.

Depends on whether the blueline comes together. That's my big concern. It's a deep forward group although there are no superstars. Should have good goaltending. But the blueline is worrisome. That will be what determines whether they can better last season's 75 points.

I'm not expecting miracles. I think they'll score a bit more. But the GAA could also go up, and it wasn't great to begin with.

- bmeltzer

And point totals depends on how many key players will be dealt before the deadline.

If coots and Atkinson stay healthy this isn’t a bottom feeder team. They have enough offense to finish bottom 8-12. Good goalie with a poop defense. I won’t be purchasing centre ice package once again this year and forget about me making trips to Philly like I used to do.

For some reasons, most don't get how offense and offensive production is linked to the defense.

Absolutely. I wasn’t necessarily arguing your point, simply helping people make better use of advanced stats.

Yeah that just seems stupid if that’s really what Torts said. Either Brink and Foerester are good enough to make the team or they’re not. If they are, then they should be playing, not watching from the press box while veterans with low ceilings play every game. That is not the hallmark of a rebuild.

Much like the start of last year, I’ll reserve judgement until we get into the season and see how everything shakes out. We can all agree the younger the better.

Here is how this is gonna shake out imo.

They will rotate or what not the first 12-15 games. Then one will be sent down.

Rebuilding teams always solidify their 4th line with 2 -30 year old players with zero future. Need that leadership and "protection".

I hope you are wrong but a fear that you are right. It’s one thing to shield young players with veterans, it’s another to have the veterans take their spots.

The Wild had Nic with two speedy rookies on the 4th line. He couldn’t keep up.

I think it's correct to say that we really need to see what happens and not overreact yet. However, that shouldn't prevent conversation from happening about the possibilities. I think we can all agree that this team should be rebuilding and playing the young players. I would understand if the Flyers felt that playing a young player on the 4th line such as Foerster or Brink is not ideal for their development. With all that being said, if they feel that both Foerster and Brink are NHL ready and need to play in the top 9. Barring a trade, it's not really a tough decision. Someone needs to be moved down in the lineup. They won't do that though.

It is 100% on Briere. First mistake was not sacking Torts. Second mistake is signing 4th line guys that Torts loves and will play the poop out of.

I see them spinning their wheels for another 5 years at least. All it is going to take is one hot stretch of hockey to put them “in the mix” and the “rebuild” will be exposed for the facade it really is.

well he is only the co-gm!!! not the alpha one at that.

What he should have done is take the players away from the coach and force him to play the 2 younger talented guys. No Nic means 2 of Allison, forest, or brink play. Would have been so easy for the new gm to cut ties with Nic d. Wasn't his signing.

Doesn't a rebuilding team want their younger better players pushing the vets out of a job? doesn't seem from what is being said jobs are won on merit. Now come opening night if both and Zamula in the lineup then Great.

will gladly say I misread the coach to start.
