If you have Tage, Cozens, Dahlin and Power signed to max term deals by the end of this season, isn't the reality that virtually any player outside the 4 you mentioned expendable and at risk of being replaced? - kingcong39
There's also important minor decisions coming. Mitts is a significant one, but Joker, UPL, and Bryson are all still here and under team control after their deals. KA has been completely ineffective at moving on from players.

Good, but also
LOL @ that being "the move" for a team on the brink of playoffs. Just a fat LOL - sbroads24
How can you judge that right now. After pre-season with a new team?

If they get Power to sign a 4 year bridge deal, it better be zero days, let alone years, before they get serious. - kingcong39
Im already of the belief they are wasting tuchs contract, wasting 4.75 on olofsson, inexplicably chose not to make changes to the middle/bottom 6 and signed two 6/7 defenseman
I dont believe they are serious this year and simply hope to make the playoffs
Our blogger is shocked at defensive lapses, the same ones plaguing this team for how long now?

Based off of the summer articles projecting him to be Dahlin's partner, by the head coach glowing about the chemistry between the 2....only to have him start on the 3rd pair. That's the funny part.

It's fine because the Sabres have enough young player Ms to adjust there cap as needed at Forward and Defense. If the Sabres didn't have that it could be a problem. But it's done and we worry about it in 3 to 5 years. - Buff36
It is why having young guys om ELC's are critical as you mentioned. The players going forward who are at risk to ne replaced are guys like Mitts, Krebs, Greenway, Jost. |

Sounds like alot of garbage to me. The guy averages 17 mins a night for his career and got benched when it counted
Anyone can see Clifton is not a needle mover if they open their eyes |
|
|
|
Probably not, depends how the negotiations went. If he stuck to this and wouldn't budge while I'm publicly preaching vibes and want to be here, this contract doesn't help that.
Dahlin is obviously a top talent in the game, he is not Cale Makar. To me this puts the vibes train back in the yard for maintenance, this was a for him contract (more power to him). - washedup20
Makar is soft tho |

He might work his way up there.
Have you ever heard of Tage Thompson? Casey Middlefat? Jeff Skinner?

The same way he worked his way out of ice time and eventually to the bench last year? |

Why don't (some) folks take adams' own words to heart about drafting and developing being the bulk of the plan? It saves you all a lot of hand-wringing and saves me from reading the same old tired crap repeated relentlessly about us not making huge trades and "wasted years".
I guess I don't have to read it, but I come here for the 15% of convos that aren't based on some kind of fantasy wish-list...and for some that have to do with cooking.
We were not going to be putting out a team of 19 year olds, and we were not going to be making a big trade this offseason unless it was a gimme. That's the take home message I got from Adams all along....did I miss some big press conference where he revealed his plan to do these things?
I do, however, semi-expect some action near the tdl, depending on how things go from October-January. Gonna be a fun, interesting year for me, at least. |

Washedup is on life support. He was hoping he wouldn't want to be with the Sabres longterm and would have to be traded for pennies on the dollar. What a bum. Quinnfan thinks he's a class act though. Quinnfan was A-OK with Homie ripping the blogger after the tragedy too. Says a lot about that guys judge of character. |

The Brandon Beane approach. Adams spent a lot of time with Beane to learn from him.

Absolutely, yes.
I was talking about guys on 1 year deals or 1 year left...and assumed Girgs and Okie are goners after this season.
