It took the bills 16-17 years to find a truly a good coach in McDermott.

Cause for concern when you go from top pairing to bottom before you even play a game.

He was sold as Dahlins partner for the past month or so.

His play in pre season was atrocious.

Clifton and EJ are definitely an upgrade over Clauge Bryson Lybuskin and who the heck am I missing


With power and Dahlin getting raises. You can’t since a majority of your cap into your defense.

Well is that McDermott or Josh being of. Even in Yesterday's game both deep balls were under thrown, easy TD's if not and that 2 pt conversion floating it to Shakir. Play was right there with a proper throw. Plus dropped balls and stupid penalties. Looked like a tired team that wasn't concentrating, atleast on Offense. Think the Defense did what they could with all the injuries, may be tackle better.

I'm not bashing him. He's probably a fine #5 D man. That's what he was in Boston in a much more D friendly system.

I'm bashing (lightly) the organization that sold him as some top 4 potential Dahlin partner acquisition.

They did a few good things since last year (Benson, Dahlin 8 years)

The offseason in terms of adding to the NHL roster was an absolute joke

My guess is that Adams did a drive by price check and the nhl media made it seem as if the Sabres and Arizona were deep into trade talks.

Why don't (some) folks take adams' own words to heart about drafting and developing being the bulk of the plan? It saves you all a lot of hand-wringing and saves me from reading the same old tired crap repeated relentlessly about us not making huge trades and "wasted years".

I guess I don't have to read it, but I come here for the 15% of convos that aren't based on some kind of fantasy wish-list...and for some that have to do with cooking.

We were not going to be putting out a team of 19 year olds, and we were not going to be making a big trade this offseason unless it was a gimme. That's the take home message I got from Adams all along....did I miss some big press conference where he revealed his plan to do these things?

I do, however, semi-expect some action near the tdl, depending on how things go from October-January. Gonna be a fun, interesting year for me, at least.

Defense played good enough given all the injuries. Kept them in the game until the end.

The Offense owns both of those losses. McDermott owns the Coaching Staff, and the philosophy Dorsey is calling. He is in part responsible.
Dorsey's play calling sucked yesterday. It was like the Jets game...very disjointed, very little flow.

The 2 passes you spoke of could certainly be better no doubt. Diggs misjudged the ball and was unable to protect against an interception as a result. It sucked. Plenty of blame to go around.

It is why having young guys om ELC's are critical as you mentioned. The players going forward who are at risk to ne replaced are guys like Mitts, Krebs, Greenway, Jost.

What would be a good year for Mitts? Assuming he locks down the 3C role and has linemates that include Greenway, Quinn, Peterka, Benson, maybe Kane. Lead the team in points down the stretch, 24 years old now, maybe finally growing into the player we hoped he would be.

Last year: 82 GP, 15-44-59, -8

If he can be a positive player, or even, and get close to 75 points that has to be a great season. If he's at 65 as a 3C that's still going to be a good year imo. Want to see him shoot more and get 20+ goals

How did Dahlin our 11mil man look?

Move him to 3rd also?

Donnie tried. It did not work in pre-season. Might work later on. Would you of rather keep Clifton up there if he is struggling with the new team.

Isnt that the point of coaching? Try new things but also know when to change.
