I get what you're saying, and I wouldn't want WPG or any other Canadian city to relocate to the US, but if a team needs to go through a rough patch in order to eventually get better (kinda like the habs right now lol) then so be it.
if the Jets determined that these were guys they wanted to keep, that's totally fine, but they shouldn't feel compelled to sign a player because of their market either, whatever is best for the organization in the long run.

The Jets are the monument of bettmans Atlanta failure. It kills him that he had to put a team back there. Even gave a veiled threat of pulling them out him parents weren't willing to sell their first borns in order to buy tickets and fill the arena. Bettman thinking 15,500 is too small but was content will the thrashers drawing 8,000 |

I dont know if its the best move for them, but they have the option to trade them down the road as well
I want more teams in Canada, not less. But they had problems winning with their core and these 2 guys were part of their core all those years, for sure |

that's why I was saying that giving contracts to players just for the sake of reaching a certain number of ticket sales isn't necessarily the most optimal way of building a team that can compete long-term, ideally you also need to sign guys who actually want to play there and win, and not just repeat the same lukewarm results one year after another.
I don't necessarily think Buttman is this evil anti-Canadian mastermind but he hasn't done all that much either in terms of making things a bit more even for teams in Canada vs those located in the US in regards to their specific markets, and how they're able to attract players with elite talent.

yeah, not the most team-friendly situation, recent history has clearly shown that besides a few exceptional cases, those kinds of deals rarely end well.

Helley might be worth that money, but not that term.
Scheifele not so much. and not for that term. |

its hard for me to get why the Coyotes are still there. The owners need to step up for that team to move already |

they pretty much got that deal cause they are stars willing to play in Winnipeg. A hard sell if any
I think the Jets should have went with a rebuild, but they decided to keep trying to compete in the now

the city where they were supposed to build their arena has confirmed multiple times they didn't want anything to do with that team.
there are teams in the LHJMQ that currently have better infrastructure than the Coyotes, yet Buttman insists on keeping that stain of a franchise alive.

well at least Scheifele and Hellebuyck aren't turrible players, it isn't like they were throwing a bunch of money at Karl Alzner...

Dallas/Raleigh/Denver were all southern successes from the mid90s hockey market exodus. Gary can eat one L |
