that depends how soon they send him through waivers (they might be waiting for TB to make a move lol)
- Pat1993

I genuinely think they want him to play a few games, regardless.

I do think if there is a taker for Allen, they would trade him and go with Monty and Primeau.

Pretty sure T-Bay sticks with Johansson, they just have no cap space to maneuver, even with Vasi on the LTR. Also, if they can do that, gives them, more to play with at the trade deadline.

Well 5 teams are currently playing chicken without risking losing a goaltender.

Buffalo, Detroit, Los Angeles, Montreal, Philadelphia all carry 3 goalies.

One of them is going to waive first and lose a goaltender.

- Scabeh

heard today that a team called Hughes a week ago to know if Primeau was available. hence why they didn't waive him.
that 3 goalie thing cannot last more than a few weeks.

I think Allen started, perhaps as a hopeful showcase, but I do not think any team will take on that contract, regardless of his play.

The teams that need a goalie do not have the cap space.

No, but it is time to clean house with the special teams coaches.

Took us years to get a decent one w/ Luke Richardson, and he has not been replaced with someone that has shown impact.

Special teams coaches have been the bane of this team for years.

yeah, GMs around the league know Allen. no need to showcase him in game 1.
noone is touching his 3.8M contract. that's a NMC in itslef. tks Hugo!

I was expecting Saint-Louis might want to bring some other guys in, I'm surprised there wasn't more movement there with the coaching team I agree.

Not a bad gamble at the time.

Since, Monty has played a lot better than expected (for the most part) and Primeau has not really developed over the last few years.

They literally have no one else in the organization, other than Primeau, if one of the other 2 goalies get hurt.

So, I think we will see 3 goalies for a while.

I dunno man, Allen isn't the most horrible goalie either, he's helped the habs a lot too.

it's as though you'll always find something to complain about, whoever the management and coaches are, you're just wired that way.

Considering our lack of depth at the position and how much of a stabilizing presence he was when he signed his contract, I don't think it's such a bad move.

Not like Allen's CapHit prevented us from doing anything or that him leaving would have been so much better because Primeau and Montembault would have had so fend for themselves.

It's likely a year too long but you can't always have the perfect scenario.

A decent back up, regardless, gonna cost you $2-3.

It is a 2 year deal, whatever.

well it's kind of the subject of the day Pat. the coach goes with his backup goalie who lets in 2 softties. an overpaid backup, so much so that noone will trade for him.
you want me to talk about RHP or Guhle?

I would say an very good backup! nothing againts the player. but that 3.8M extention was not a good move.
the move to make was to let him play his final year and trade him at tdl. like the other pending UFAs.
you can always find a goalie in the summer time, there was no rush to sign him at 3.8M for 2 years. now they're paying for it, having to keep 3 goalies.
