Don't sleep on Zamula.
Our bar is set low. I think this team gets to the 80 point mark. Out of playoffs. Out of high draft pick. Same old Flyers...
But better than last year. More fun to watch. Our D is bad. Entire line up is average to below average but they'll compete.
They don't hate to lose. - cdearth23
I highly doubt that 80 points will be much, if any different, in overall ranking than last season. I agree that they will improve offensively and be more fun to watch as a result.
Looking forward to seeing a good game. Letβs go Flyers!

He said it's been like that for the last 3 years. Tortorella has only been here one year. I'm sorry it's hard to believe a coach doesn't want the player to make a good play. Systems are just a framework. You are still free, as a player (especially the #1 d-man) to react to the situation and make a play. - Dkos
Systems are far more than just a framework in hockey. If there is no option for a reversal on a set play off a defensive zone draw, then that play is not there to be made. It is clear as day how and where Tortorella wants the puck to go. Flyers both under Yeo and under Tortorella, clearly don't have the option to use the middle of the ice or the weak side on breakouts. It was so ridiculously easy for opposition teams with advanced scouting to forecheck the Flyers knowing all they had to do was cut off the wall with no threat of getting beat up the middle of the ice.

How can you claim you have always seen the potential in Frost when you posted that he would never be more than an AHL player? - MJL
At the time he was playing like an AHL player. Look Frost has skill and speed, but he is small and away from the puck he was a disaster. It did not look like he had any interest in learning how to play at both ends of the ice, and on top of that, he was constantly behind the puck and pretty much a no-show on most nights. Torts obviously has got the best out of him and moved him forward considerably to a point where just watching him live at the pre-season game in Boston, he was one of the most tenacious back checkers on the Flyers, and really showed me a lot. A year ago at this time he was nothing more than an AHL player. the potential was there, but was the desire and work ethic? Well, Torts may have finally unlocked that. But before you take a victory lap, let's see how consistently well Frost plays this season. |

I want to hear your big, bold predictions for the Flyers this year. I gave you mine, but in case you missed them:
1. The Flyers will finish with 82 points and finish ahead of the Caps and Blue Jackets
2. The Flyers will finish with about 245 goals scored this season, which puts them about 21 in the league
3. The Flyers penalty kill will improve to 80% this year
4. The Flyers will lose no more than 7 OT games.
I know, not very bold predictions, I'm kind of playing it safe. But I want to see what your BIG, BOLD Predictions are for this team!

No, he wasn't playing like an AHL player. You have been nothing but wrong when it comes to Frost. You didn't say he was playing like an AHL player. You said he will never be anything more than an AHL player. Which means you failed to see his potential which is exactly what you criticized others for. Tortorella didn't get the best out of him. Tortorella held him back from continuing to progress and be the same player he was down the stretch the season before. Until Briere had to tell him to play Frost more.
Take a victory lap?

Just replace "rainbow jihad" with "miscegenation", and you don't even have to change the rest of the rhetoric. It's exactly the same crap white America used in the 50s to oppose desegregation, including falsely claiming it was because of their religion that they didn't want blacks and whites mixing. - Feanor

I would say lets all take a drink every time the broadcast praises the 4th line. But I want us all to live through the night. |

I thought the same thing. Same "appearance" as Coburn. If he turns out as good, that would be great.

Flyers do not have the puck much in this game so far, and thus giving up way too many shots on goal! |
