Pete!
you can also blame Reaves for hiding for the rest of the game. never wanted a 2nd chance. he may be smarter than he looks.

- fidopro

Yeah he was rather timid after Wifi ragdolled him into the net.

they will plenty of opportunities to get at it. Neither of them wanted to get an instigator penalty after Wifi got caught.

It's too bad we were at the wrong end of it but I'm glad they're finally calling this.

Every big hit might not end in a brawl now.

Still not sure why Reaves did not get a boarding penalty.

Anyways, while I appreciate WiFi (and other players all night) stepping up for each other, he needs to pick his battles and stay out of the box, too.

He is an effective defender, and as we saw during the game, has a great shot from the point.

WiFi and Reaves in the box is a loss for the Habs.

Yeah, that annoys me.

But I have no issue on what looks like a borderline / bad hit being managed with a few punches.

Reaves hitting Guhle from behind deserved to get punched in the face.

Xhekaj did the right thing.

They panic and take penalties, we saw it last year, and the year before that. Some of them seemed weak calls to me, but that does not matter. Very undisciplined, especially the ones taken in the Leaf's end for no reason.
- Mashadar

Some penalties did come from panicking.. but not all of them

Evans took a dumb holding/hooking penalty in the OZone while the Habs still had some momemtum for them.

That changed the whole game.

Those are the ones that need to disapear. Doing so will lead to less panicking and... full circle.

they only play against each other 3 times this year?

I guess the league deemed these games too entertaining, gotta limit those and play more boring matchups instead. good thinking NHL.

I think the league wants to have it so you play every team at least twice, so that is 62 games, that leaves you with 20 left. One additional for everyone in your conference (15), so that takes you to 77.

That leaves 5 random ones I guess.... was explained how they were set up years ago, but I cannot remember... some rotation or another.

really..? I always thought that there was a team or 2 the habs didn't play every year, hence the rotation. I know building a schedule for the whole league must not be the easiest thing in the world, but putting some focus on obvious rivalries could only help the entertainment factor imho.

Eliminating those 5 games might help avoid having the cup final in freakin' June!

That is 80 games of lost revenue.

So you basically end up with 2 x the Arizona Coyotes.

there's a lot of talk about starting the season in September, but I don't know if the league would even consider doing this.

Hadn't considered the financial aspect ... but do we need 32 teams with the available NHL talent around?

not if you replace these 5 games by an extra playoffs round, and increase the number of playoffs teams from 16 to 20

I hope not.

It's been said earlier today but I'd rather see him on the ice than going out fighting every useless 4th liner goon out there.
