Pk88 would have to take a little less to play for a top contender
Buffalo in the drivers seat with the cap space , especially without olo’s cap hit - Boss34
That's putting it lightly. Most of these teams don't even have enough room for a league minimum player. Call can be stretched and manipulated but eventually the numbers have to work. Reports are all saying Buffalo, Detroit, Rangers and I think those are accurate as 2/3 of those can fit him in now. |

Why wouldn't we be okay with retaining 50%? As far as Cap is concerned they're totally fine. Unless we're talking the actual dollars and Pegula's cheapness. - Zschalberg

Moving half of VO would give the Sabres the most cap space in the league before calling up his replacement. Crazy how little space there is overall, been a tough market for buyers since this off-season. In a vacuum would appear to give the Sabres a leg up if they decide to buy this season. - Zschalberg

W/o Kane how many playoff games does that roster have combined?
Has to be one of, if not the lowest amount of playoff experience as a team in the league, right? |

Would take me too long to do the math, but will just say, we iced the youngest team in the league and have been in a playoff drought for 12 years. We're going to be on the lower end unless Adams goes trade happy all of a sudden, which looks unlikely. They're going to be this years' version of the Devils if all goes well.
Probably won't make it far because of it, but have to start somewhere...our start being somewhere below the bottom of the barrel. |

I don't want him to but I expect him to. I've liked his game and I think Granato does too but the allure of sending him down and saving the year of contract will win out in the end imo. They'll say "he did wonderfully here and were excited for him to take that game into the WHL and continue to grow." He'll play in the WJC and come back next season.
Maybe I'm wrong, I just expect it to happen until it doesn't. 6 more games and we'll find out. |

From this lens, do you see a benefit to adding Kane to the roster? |

From the lens of playoffs experience, no. From the lens of him being a good player who can add offense to our team, yeah let's do it. If the playoff experience comes into play after that's awesome. |

I agree, I think he would be a great addition.
The Olo comparable is up there as one of the more questionable takes on here.

Do you think he's likely improve on his performance over the last few years following major surgery?
He's been a 5v5 detriment, similar to VO for a while now. Is he likely to provide a positive impact on the ice, or is this all about where he's from?

He's been a ppg player and I would expect him to continue that.
What are you looking at to connect Olo and his play 5v5?
Being a ppg player is a positive impact, so yes. Being from Buffalo sure doesn't hurt, how often do you use a players birth location to determine NHL impact?

the only good thing about it is the story. if his decline picks up from last season, it will be an utter disaster. now of course you can take that chance, but you need him to age regress by about 3 years and also be certain that his hip surgery will not only not hamper him, but also age-regress him those three years. Or else you might as well just play Olofsson. - TheSabresTaco
Donnie’s upbeat system could fit perfectly with pk88
Sign him to 1 year and re evaluate at the deadline
Move him to his choice team if it isn’t working out |

He was 2 years ago. Seems irrelevant now, especially if you aren't going to give him top line + first PP time.
He's a bad bet. |
