Yeah, I missed that. Thought he got credit cause he was the last Laval player to touch the puck |

perry had 65 points in the last 2 seasons
foligno had 39 points in the last 2 seasons
kane had 149 points in the last 2 seasons - homiedclown
That's not the point I'm trying to make. Bringing a guy like Kane into the lineup means the development of KA's top prospects moves back. Now if the team was looking like a contender in the next year or two then adding Kane would make sense. Right now support players make sense and if they have a little grit it makes more sense.
A guy like Perry wouldn't take a top 6 job even though he still has some offensive skill left and adds grit. Easy replacement for Okposo.
Kane wouldn't replace Okposo. He'd take a top 6 job away from or a young fella and it's too early for that. This team isn't good enough yet. More growth needed for the young guys for sure |

Next year we have amerks graduates - Sabretooth9
Where are they playing?
Do we really expect the Sabres to walk away from Zemgus and Kyle willingly?
They have shown they can't quit virtually any players. |

He is a positive player even at this point in his career after playing on bad Chicago teams for all the defensive doubts. He is what the Sabres want 90% of their draft picks to become.
He can show them how to handle and win under pressure - this might be the biggest selling point for me.
His talent is undeniable, I hope they sign him. Quinn would be the biggest beneficiary from him joining the team IMO.
Edit: he also played for the NTDP and was an early 1st round pick. This fits the criteria for the current front office to offer employment. - Theguywiththething
If you sign Patrick Kane, who is he playing with and what line?
Terrible fit for the top line with the defensive allergies Skinner and Tage have.
Cozens already has an RW that doesn't know the meaning of the word defense, so why add another?
That means you're adding a literal zero defense player to Casey's line.
Do you think the team needs another Jeff Skinner?
They need another Tuch like player, but even better defensively.
Valeri Nichushkin would've been a quality addition for what the Sabres still need. |

Ok.
Same argument, different poster.
You could add the best defensive forward in the game to one of the forward lines and the Sabres team defense would still suck.
Yes the Sabres need a power forward, they also need 4 better defensemen.
All of that is true, it’s also true that adding Kane is an improvement to the roster.

How much does it cost for half a year or is he getting a multiple year contract. If I sign him does his cap hit affect me going out and getting that Dman that could become available.

The debate really is a obout do they need another goal scorer on a high scoring team who also very negatively impacts an already bad defensive team...especially the forward group who most don't know how to play in a defensively aware system.
As fun as Kane is to watch and score..he will provide more frustrating results in the form of giving back more goals against than goals for produced. His metrics tell it all being a negative player as measured by:
Possession
Plus/minus
SCoring Chances
HighDanger Chances
I subscribe to the point that they don't need more GF, rather need to cut their GA down significantly.
I'd rather invest the +$6m- Cap hit into a solid Top 4 D man.
Your claim is very highly suspect at the best. |

If we were right there I think he could help, but we are not. IMO they should be looking for a Crouse type or a Top 3 RD, they would help more in the long run. |

They need to win and they need to learn how to play under pressure. It took the GM almost 2 years to build up the courage to say they are ready to embrace expectations.
They need more grit/power forwards up front and they 1,000% need better defensemen. It would be excellent if Adams, 3 games into the season realized that and started shopping for it.
The only name in the rumor mill is Kane, and he would be a value add to this current roster. |

Disagre, and I have stated why.
Your argument rests solely on an opinion that he'll add value.
You look past the evidence that suggests he would in fact bring negative value. |

That's fair, but confidently saying he would bring negative value is an opinion as well.
You're using advanced stats from tanking years, so I don't put much value on those.

Also, I am all for adding more productive grit...i.e.not knuckle-draggers that many on here want to jump to when discussing...and a solid Top 4 Dman.
I and others such as Buff36 have been posting for both positions for years now.

So we should accept as fact your opinon and excuses for player's bad stat rather than looking at the evidence?
Go look at his impact on teammates performace over past 3 seasons ...few players benefit from playing with him versus away from him. That to me is the key stat..very hard to legitimately debate. |

Defenses yes. Id like stillman as a call up.
Forwards….isnt that Tuch on L1. Cozens on L2 ( he needs to find his game ). Greenway on L3.
You can even say skinner and benson play a gritty game. You add Kane to this roster and Adams has to make trades. Multiple. Has he done that to this point?
