for a team that in essence has 5 first rounders on d (Samuelsson was picked 32)
and 3 number 1 overalls on D
our D STINKS - homiedclown
Sammy's best game of the year at least. It feels like some guys are going some nights, others are off and they're flip flopping. We just need everyone firing on all cylinders and this will pick up quickly I'd wager.

I'd say the line has actually looked a lot better with him vs Olo and he actually made nice plays yesterday. Don't disagree with bringing up Kulich regardless, but I don't see how Krebs' game yesterday was the thing that stuck out. Our defense is frightful. Abysmal even. - QuinnFan
yeah the cozens line was our best 5 on 5 line last night
krebs held his own
krebs is probably not the long term solution there but can hold it down til adams is forced to make a move

joker played fine
dahlin and power are playing anything like number 1 overalls in their own end and clifton is worse than bush was and takes the dumb vanek penalties

Agreed on all. Clifton's game yesterday was one of the worst I've seen from an NHL defender in a while. He looked...frantic, at times. Then would just get caught on the wrong side of the net or double covering one guy. Saw him as high as the top of the circle on the PK, just no perception of where he is.
I may have been wrong on CC. I'm holding my breath, but it's starting to burn a little.
It's what we said earlier this morning: What is their identity?
Easy to say focus on defense, and they may even generate more offense, but that is almost never the case.
Either way, the fun has vanished so far this season.
Can the fun return if the team doesn't run and gun? Is winning no matter what fun?

Well unless some of these players decide to adapt it won't. Nice we got our core basically locked up. But are they willing to make the sacrifices needed to change. I know people want leadership, but maybe it's time to bring up some of the youth that might actually buy into what you are doing and bring some much needed energy.

I know we’re very much disagree with this, but sacrificing offense to play defense is Ralph Krueger esq.
I.e. benching Skinner because he wouldn’t play defense.

panthers at the start of 2022-23 season decided to play more d
they struggled to start the year, limped into the playoffs and went on a cup run
end results from that switch to more d
they scored 50 less goals in 2022-23 vs the year before and allowed 27 MORE goals
sometimes when things are going ok, tweak do not make drastic changes
kids are gripping their sticks too tight like during the slump before Ralph got canned

Agreed.
When the strength of your core is built on offense, trying to force a defensive approach ends up with what we've seen so far: A team that isn't good at either one.

You can do both, Jesus the Bruins have shown us that. Just because you play run and gun doesn't mean you can't play a defensive game. Use that run and gun speed to also help with your defensive approach.

That's fine, and let's see where Levi is by the end of it. Has he gotten better or did we crush his confidence.

I said this last year when people were saying we didn't need someone like Karlsson or Bouchard (not that they were realistic)
Only going halfway again, like many things they have done, and approaches they have taken. - kingcong39
They had 41 games last year where they scored 3 goals or less, when the high powered offense disappears 50% percent of the time you better be able to play something else.
