They’ve given up nine goals in four games, although goaltending has been great so far, me thinks that it has been more than goaltending that got them there. - Angotti
Pretty impressive they shut out Matthews and Marner. |

Having Kevin Dean and LR on the coaching staff is a big positive. You can see it in how the defence is playing. Dean did a great job in Boston when their young guys came up to the NHL.

mis-typed it. it was suppose to 8 ES goals. one was an empty netter. |

I also appreciate the dmen having their heads on a swivel and trying to keep possession knowing who they were passing to instead of just happy to get it out of the dzone. |

Yep… and the sequence before that pass he somehow corralled a pass that was probably 5 feet behind him and seamlessly brought it to his forehand and made a pass to move the play forward.
It’s fun to watch him play hockey. - Chief4Feathers
Good eye, Chief. And you can't execute gathering in a pass like that in stride behind you without beautifully balanced skating. Add Vlasic is 6ft 6in and it's damn impressive. Kid can skate and IMO his feet are might lighter this yr, especially from a standstill or puck race. ....... Kid is quietly good every game.

He's looked bad all night. - Dieselhead
I agree, Diesel. Kaiser had a rough night. IMO he looked gassed all game. What have they played, 4 in 7? I thought KK looked a tad heavier footed too but Vlasic looked normal.
As Mo was saying these kids will need breathers this yr and my guess is Kaiser gets a rest and seat in the press box next game.

Not according to the Sportsnet Panel. According to those brainiacs the Leafs laid an egg against an inferior opponent. - RickJ
They must have watched a different game than we did. The Hawks out worked them and shut down there stars.
Our Rookie Defense continues to impress. KK isn't going anywhere at this rate, Vlasic with a monster game tonight and Kaiser was decent.
Might have been the best game ive see Seth Jones play as a Hawk. |

Take the Bedard mania out of it, Vlasic is the guy on this team I am most impressed with. Big wing span, can skate, handles the puck well, uses his defence partner well and covers up for him too.
Chris Pronger like size. All he needs is some of Pronger's nasty. |

Katchouk is slowly growing on me. He does a lot of the dirty work, and is consistent. - Chunk
Katchouk has a solid IQ, Chunk. ........ He makes a lotta little plays in all 3 zones and he has enough in his feet and hands to be dangerous sometimes. He'll get back on D too, but it all comes from him properly reading the play no matter which club has the puck.
In a yr or two if he keeps taking steps he'd be a perfect fit in Cooper's bottom 6 in TB.

Korchinski has looked pretty good too. His hip and shoulder fakes while in stride through the neutral have made a few guys get turned around pretty fast. |

With Raddysh and Katchouk playing well, Oliver Moore in the system and one more 1st rd pick left, that Hagel trade is looking better than anything Bowman ever did.
Was Barker for Leddy the only decent trade Stan made? I can't remember what he gave up for Oduya. - Dieselhead
Pretty sure it was a draft choice, either a 2nd or third |

I was actually correct. It is 7 ES goals. An ENG and a Jones. The shorty on Sat when Jones left the middle of the ice with no support and decided he cold block a pass with his stick up in the air. |

And why didn't this team at least offer Toews, a contract. He could easily have been there #3 Center, Help Bedard and Rechial with there face offs. Even take pressure of them from taking to many interviews. - Ging72
Because then it wouldn't be Bedard's team it would have been Toews' team.
They were very specific that they wanted to move on from the key players from the last winning cup so that the new younger group would have space to grow. |

Thats a good comparison, both 2nd round picks, played some in the AHL, big guys. Vlasic is taller by a couple inches.
But to catch up to Robinson, Vlasic needs 2 Norris Trophies and about 200 goals and 900 points. |

Good Comparison. Watched alot of Robinson as a kid. Vlasic if he can continue his play should be a top 4 fixture for years to come. Seems to have a bit of offense to his game as well. |

I thought end of last year, last 15 games or so he was the best Blackhawk on the ice. Hustles like hell, forechecks, hits, and was scoring some goals here and there.
The big question I had, would he work his butt off in the offseason, and take another step.
I'm not sure he did any of that, but he was supposedly on the line to get cut during camp (though now the couple times i hear LR talk about him, I doubt that was actually true) but he's sure noticeable during games.
Very good trade for Kyle from Chicago. Tampa not doing so well without their goalie and captain. You can't fall too far behind in the east, too many good teams to pass up. KD has been pretty fortunate also, hoping that luck keeps going and Tampa with a 11th place finish this year.

Didn't think that sounded right. The second time around when Stan brought him back from Dallas that was the deal.
The first time the Hawks got him from WPG in 2012 they gave up 2nd and 3rd round picks in 2013.
To the original poster's comment, the Leddy for Barker deal was good but I like the Skille for Frolik deal better. |
