Last night had a distinctly Leafy feel to it.
Matthews rolls in on a serious heater, the team is feeling their wheaties, and they face a lottery team with a rookie between the pipes.
I even thought to myself, the Leafy outcome would be this Chicago kid pitches a shutout. So, at least that didn't happen. So, minor win against the so-called curse there.
But, then salt gets rubbed in the wound when Whorey Fairy scores. He's a diving geezer douchenozzle, but he still has hands.
'
Tyler Johnson also made an appearance on the scoresheet. His shot was never the same after that filthy wrist-breaking slash he took against Chicago in the finals. Ironic that he's playing on that team now and playing spoiler.

crappy game
Leafs forward additions will not help in the defense dep. klingberg more like a Barrie.
4th line...yikes.. getting crushed.
other than that, Go Leafs! - senstroll
Klankburg makes Barrie look like Denis Potvin…
Hopefully Bertuzzi has new team jitters only… because he takes some idiotic penalties-
AM34 looking mvp mode - his pk effort is strong - |

Leafs D sucked last night. - dmnted
Like it did in games 1 and 2.
Looking at the Leafs at 5v5 through 5 games:
Rielly - Brodie have an xGF of 2.7 and an xGA of 0.7 - which is great.
Giordano - Liljegren have an xGF of 1.7 and an xGA of 1 - which is good.
McCabe - Klingberg have an xGF of 1.8 and an xGA of 3.6 - which is dreadful. The only pairing in the league that's worse right _now_ is Hedman - Perbix (xGA 3.9)
We're talking just 3 games and we're talking about time to get used to each other, but McCabe has been absolutely brutal; he's been worse than Klingberg and that's saying a lot. Klingberg without the puck is, so far, what we knew he would be: ineffective at best.
There is definitely work to be done on the back-end and while the coaches can bemoan the forwards not coming back to do enough, it should be noted that the forwards interchange with these guys, so everyone on the back-end gets a healthy dose of Domi or Kampf or Reaves or the rookies to deal with. But simply put: they have a job to do and may not be capable of doing it.
Which sincerely isn't surprising any of us. |

Rielly had his best xGA since 2017 in one of the 1st two games(can't remember which)
Was interesting to see George Armstrong at the game last night.
Tree tried to get Parayko for CGY at the TDL. I am not interested unless they retain some money but could be interesting to watch there. |

Haven’t noticed rielly to much in the defensive zone which is good.
Gio actually looked a bit better than I was expecting so far.
McCabe and Klingberg look terrible out there. Can’t pick up guys, missed assignments, bad line changes, bad reads.
Brodie has been ok
Liljegren looks good to me. Only 3 games but I think he could be 2nd best defenseman on the team. He might already be it. |
