I think the early injuries messed up the pairings. But from what I saw in camp, the D corp doesn't have an overabundance of speed beyond Hughes and Hronek. Maybe that's why they're together.

I don't know if he was nursing something but Soucy's footwork and speed will be an issue if he isn't paired with someone faster. Cole was fine but had a habit of skating into trouble and holding the puck too long. Myers has been written enough about already.

Still, it's early with a new coaching staff. You could tell during the scrimmage in Vic and exhibition game in Seattle that these guys were still feeling things out system wise. I think some of this is getting exposed now because they aren't able to match as well on the road without last change.

I think the positive out of this is the depth got tested early and completely exposed. They seem to be proactive in dealing with it. You're right though, lots of player turnover and basically 3 different Coaches in 3 years. That isn't exactly the recipe for success in any system.

No wonder Mark Friedman couldn’t stop smiling and had tears of joy from being a Canuck. Guy knows he’s already the second best RHD on roster behind Hronek

Yes but Myers is an NHL defenseman with a player's stick with plenty of time & space. The Myers thing is not an agenda ... it's just what is cause of what he does out there.

Before that play he had a brutal penalty kill. Just gives up the puck like his controller broke and went into the boards without even trying to make a play. Then two feeble shot block attempts where he looked scared to get in the lane. Did they get scored on - no, so should that still be a positive based on the stats?
