we'll drop after the vets are traded at the TDL
Torts is showing some of these players can actually contribute when the coach isn't a moron - 2Real
If the plan is to trade vets at deadline then why not now? That’s a humongous big failure to hold vets now and (frank) your draft positioning if the end game is to move them. |

why would we sit staal when we told him we'd try to trade him to a contender! - 2Real
Was not there a handshake agreement between DB and Staal that he would not be traded? |

Because the market expands at the deadline. Other than if they were looking to trade Konecny at this point in time, there won't be much of a market for any player the Flyers might be looking to move. Most top teams are in a tight cap space situation. Which means the Flyers would have to retain or take back a contract in order to move that player now. What other veteran player on this team is a viable candidate to trade to a team with contending hopes right now? To get them to give up what cap space they have? For teams that are under the cap and can bank space. That they would make a move now to trump what players might be available at the deadline? They would have to view that player as a missing piece. Which player is that other than possibly Konecny?

It's on my Twitter feed. Short version that I would think a player leading a team in scoring the latter 2/3 of last season and then leading again in the preseason would have earned him more leeway than two games although neither the CBJ nor OTT games were good ones for him (no one was good in Ottawa), Tippett struggled worse and Brink was an offensive black hole in the same two games (one shot attempt). But it is what it is.
Seems like he will be back in the lineup tomorrow. - bmeltzer
Who comes out? Tyson? Can you answer this Do you believe Torts has it in for Frost? |

Tortorella is a bit of a nutbar, he's like a navy seal instructor, he means well but he's also trying to see how hard you'll push yourself. Clearly he doesn't care about optics. |

Don't expect Staal or Seeler to come out of the lineup. - Tomahawk
I don't. Torts will rode them like he rides his PHD line.
Why bother giving development time to the youth when we can play the old fart and a guy who doesn't have s future here beyond a 3rd pairing guy?
Play the damn young guys and let them make the mistakes and let them learn to move on after one is made.
Man torts pisses me off some days |

Tortorella hasn't learned by now, he never will. I pray for a modern day coach who doesn't believe that scratching young players or playing them with muckers and grinders is the way to develop a player. Maybe someday, the Flyers will move into the present day.

The futher this Tortorella experience goes along the more I agree with you. It's okay to push a kid but it's another thing to let the kid know that you genuinely don't l Ike him, which is the message that torts gives frosty, imo.
I get the tough love but Torts is too much.
But it's not just frosty. He is sitting the kids for fossils like Staal and 3rd pair Dmen like seeler and walker.
Let the kids play and make their mistakes |

3 games in is probably too early. But I for one agree with you. After the new year, you probably could get the same value for most of players that would be moved at the deadline anyway. Players such as TK, that make decent money, not crazy money, might need a little more time. Not a fan of getting left, holding the bag after March 8th because a deal couldn’t get done under the wire. |

Play the kids - Bob Habib
BS, Flyers fans have no clue what patience is because the Flyers have been good to decent for 45 of their 55 years in the league. In the past 55 years they have the third most wins in the league, they’ve been to the cup finals eight times, more than any other team except Montreal and Boston, three times in the 70’s, three times in the 80’s, once in the 90’s and in 2010.
Since 2010 they made the playoffs six times, everyone acts like we’ve been bottom feeders for decades, which is complete BS. Have they been cup contenders, no, but the tears in here are laughable. The Flyers have been a very competitive franchise for most of their history, the past five years have been crap but they’re trying to change that.
2019/2020 they had 41 wins in 69 games, a .645 winning percentage. Yes they haven’t won the cup since 1975 but the notion it’s been a bag of sh it is a completely false narrative. |
