This is why the game ruined why is it not the player getting laid out on the blue line which every kid WAS taught to treat as the danger zone where the big hits happen, and blame the guy smart enough to see the fool look down or think I’m a star no one will hit me ? This hit happened 5 times a game when the game was played by men and not prima donnas - Hockeyfan4life14
This is complete bullsh it. Guys never took runs at other players stars. It went against the code and they had to deal with the other team's policeman. Andersson takes this run in the 80's or early 90's and both benches clear. I'm beginning to wonder if you ever played competitive hockey or if you're just repeating something your Grandpappy told you. |

Sounds like a Hanafin extension could be incoming. Wonder if he wants 8 years with the current market. I could see him going for 4.
Am I wrong in thinking locking these guys up into longterm contracts now might be the best way to go? In 2 years if they want to rebuild the cap will go up and teams will have $$$ to spend. Just seems like there was no market for trades this last summer. and I cannot see that changing much this year, - DuranDuran
At 27 when the new deal starts, 8 years would be fine. Can't see Hanafin going for anything less than max term. |

You're so full of poop your eyes are brown. Watch a vintage game and try to find a deliberate late head shot with the player launching through the opponent and show me it not provoking a suspension or some form of redemption. This hit is on par with the Steve Moore hit on Naslund and we all know how that ended. |

If he took a 3-4 year deal now, he could still get a 8 year deal after. |

By the looks of the drop off our 30+ year old recent signings have taken, Calgary would be wise to stay clear of him at that point ! |

I do. But how many of those hits or fights involved star players? Very few. I think you're missing the point that Andersson, average guy, took the run at Laine, a star player. Injuring him.
As opposed to back then, and probably to avoid the subsequent self policing, the NHL stepped in and dealt with it. I figure he'd have gotten a major and been kicked out but it was late in the game, so that's 1 game he has to serve. Plus 3 for the sheer stupidity of taking a run at a guy and hurting him when you had the entire game to do so cleanly. |

Not that it makes a different but I would not trade Andersson for Laine. |

Zadrov said some interesting things. I think the best thing to do would be to blow it all up and get some draft picks. Build for the future. Something seems off |
