Just ask him how much his Penwhines are enjoying looking up at the Flyers in the standings. Oh, and the Penwhines best get used to it cause it's going to be occurring a lot in the coming years!

Wow, just saw that they got to within 33 seconds of securing a point. That's the bad side of Torts. They probably sat back too much and lost any momentum that they had. It's the undefeated champs at home, but would have been nice to get a point. Damn prevent defense! I hate it in football and hockey. It prevents you from winning. Just play the damn game! Free Frost! Thanks!

AZ’s bullpen has been strong and we haven’t changed strategy from the last game by trying to draw walks move runners over, steal bases…etc.

Phillies don't play small ball mostly because they are fundamentally unsound. Also, it is not macho. Close your eyes and swing as hard as you can is basically all they can do...

Zamula got embarrassed. Whatever happened to defensemen taking the body instead of getting hypnotized by the puck?

I bet you Tortorella tried to bench the LV player for showing some skill and not dumping it in.

The games that I have watched so far, the team seems to be playing better than last year. Better PK, not just holding on for dear life and praying to get to the third winning 2-1 then block shots for 20 mins. They seem to be trading chances reasonably well but they do lack finish. I think having coots back really makes a huge difference. For many years, if he was out, we had zero chance. He does a lot of small things well that not everyone sees. Still, with out high end skill and any semblance of a PP, we're not going to win that many games.

I could be wrong, but haven't they also played against a lot of back-up goalies?

I think they can do more than that but they certainly didn't. All they were trying to do is kill the ball. Just awful at bats and plans at the plate. Arizona clearly adopted the plan of throwing a lot of breaking balls off the plate to get the Phillies to chase. Turner and Castellanos were particularly bad. Schwarber gets a lead off double and Turner, instead of working the count and trying to hit the ball the other way to move the runner to 3rd. Is up there whacking away at breaking balls that are off the plate to start. Horribly overaggressive. Move the runner to 3rd and then Schwarber scores on Harper's deep fly out. There's a run lost. If they were disciplined at the plate. The Phillies could've worked a bunch of hitters counts and drawn walks. They played right into the Diamondbacks strategy.

Look at the sports scene over in Pittsburgh…not much to be excited about I guess. The Pirates have been so bad for so long, he couldn’t bring himself to actually type the name Pirates when admitting who his team was. In a small sense, deep down he’s a bit jealous.

There are some guys here who have never resided in Philly but have cooped all our sports teams, not just Flyers. And there are some who seem to have translated their anti-Flyers bias to all other Philly teams.

Bummer last night. Keep thinking about it. I really thought we would beat the Dbacks.

This boom or bust poop has been going on for a while. Remember all the hype about all the home runs etc? A team with less than half their payroll, with critical contributions from home grown talent, and a rookie starting pitcher in game 7, gritted out a win with the exact opposite approach.

The entire thing has me really pissed off. Last year in the World Series, I thought they lost to a better team. This season, while they certainly lost to a team that played better over the last 5 games. The Phillies are still the better team. It was stupid baseball. One team adjusted and the other didn't. I like Thompson but he didn't make any adjustments. Just sent out the message of status quo. Philly hitters just kept going up there whacking away. Against the Phillies power bull pen, the DBacks just tried to get the bat on the ball and put it in play. They also got aggressive on the bases.
