13 nhl minutes > 20 ahl minutes. With the assumption he can handle the 13.
- hello it's me 2050

I hope he can. Otherwise it could destroy a kid's confidence getting steamrolled every night before he is ready.

don't disagree with that, but i think some games in the ahl will help he adjust to the north american style faster and let him gain confidence/decision making.

come back up in late dec/jan.

What I did was ask a simple question that was completely relevant to the ongoing conversation and was completely hockey related. You're attempting to make it into something more. Yes, when you claim incorrectly that it was not part of the premise. The advice was obviously needed. You really shouldn't be so easily triggered.

Ok. We are going nowhere. I am not going to engage any further.

You would get further if you kept it hockey related. This is multiple posts from you towards me that are non hockey related. If you have an issue with me. I don't care. Deal with it.

A nothing player? He led the team in ES scoring last season. Scored at a 55 point pace over the final 56 game of the season.

Nothing player lol... people are so (frank)ing stupid.

How long does Briere wait until he intervenes or trades Frost from a position of weakness that will only get worse the longer he waits?

The Standard.

OK, but I'd be annoyed if he was being scratched because Deslauriers has to play 82 games during a "rebuild".

And please don't anyone tell me Cates can't possibly be dropped to 4LW. He's getting 4th line minutes already!

- Feanor

Agree this has been mismanaged but it’s Brieres fault more so than Tortorella IMO. Briere only left one forward spot in the top 9 open and couldn’t make the decision to demote Forester when Brink beat him out. He also created the 4th line by signing Hathaway and Poehling in the offseason.

So far this doesn’t really look like a rebuild and it’s entirely on Briere. He better have a big trade deadline or this is Hextall part 2.

that is why you give him an extended 20 game look or so. No issue with him being sent down at all.

As of today rosters, the Flyers will have to get through New Jersey down the line with Hughes and Hischier at center. Does Frost stack up against either of them?
- psuhockey

Good question. One would think the Flyers coaching staff and management would like to give the kid the opportunity to answer that question. While the answer is probably “No” let’s face it, we don’t know what we don’t know. Maybe Torts has a functioning crystal ball and already knows without giving the kid a chance.

Doesn’t sound like that to the article on the score .

From the GM "I want him to be a horse in the second half of the season. So, we're going to manage his games for the next couple of months anyways."

Pat Birdbeak is a moron. Never liked him as a player.

Not at all. It’s a comment on how ridiculous the situation is. Torts is ego driven. His benching of Frost was an emotional one. He wasn’t cerebral enough to weigh the risk reward equation and he had no end game. Torts realizes that 4 games is excessive and punitive but he’s so self centered and insecure that he can’t admit he made a mistake so he plows on and doubles down on ignorance because of his ego. The only thing that could be worse is if Jones and Briere support this.
- Minnyhock

agree mostly but there is a small benefit to Frost, he goes back in while they're winning and they lose, there will be blame to go around for breaking the streak. It is almost necessary to wait, which you are correct, Torts could not see that coming.

Briere decides who’s on the NHL roster. This idea that Torts is the secret GM is nonsense.

He did it on a losing team against other teams’ back up goalies and apathetic rosters who assumed they just had to show up to beat the Flyers. Ryan Potulny once produced at a 41 point pace on a lousy Edmonton team under similar circumstances and he was a career AHLer. Frost will get his chance soon while the games matter.

Regardless, he will never be a 3rd or 4th line center in this league and isn’t good enough to be a 2nd line center on a contending team thus why I called him a nothing player.

- psuhockey

He did it in the NHL against NHL players and NHL goalies. And to the guys who are playing for their contracts and their places on rosters, every game matters.

Really? Tortorella wanted Hayes and Angelo gone. They're gone. The Flyers front office structure is not traditional.

Jay Woodcroft could have the same dilemma as Torts. The Oilers are losing with McDavid and he’s a -3. Now he’s out for 1-2 weeks. If the Oilers go on a win streak it could be tough to put him back in.

Wherever he plays, his name is on the Cup! And he's infamous for toe picking and dropping it leaving a dent.

Pretty interesting approach Anaheim is going through with Carlson. Would be curious to know what folks think of this
The 2023 second overall pick will miss his second straight game Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets as part of a series of planned scratches aiming to help the Ducks manage his workload in the first half of the season.

- ClaudeFather

I think it's downright stupid, and I wonder if they are masking a larger issue. If you want to limit his workload play him on the 3rd line or something like that. Having him miss games for no reason makes no sense.

Frost is not a solution for anything down the line. Tortorella is wrong to scratch him but Frost is a nothing player. If he’s the 2nd line center on the next “contending” Flyers team then something went seriously wrong.
