Couturier matches up with Hischier. I envision Frost's future as a 3C - MJL
So all this fuss over benching a 3C?? This is hilarious! |

He did it on a losing team against other teams’ back up goalies and apathetic rosters who assumed they just had to show up to beat the Flyers. Ryan Potulny once produced at a 41 point pace on a lousy Edmonton team under similar circumstances and he was a career AHLer. Frost will get his chance soon while the games matter.
Regardless, he will never be a 3rd or 4th line center in this league and isn’t good enough to be a 2nd line center on a contending team thus why I called him a nothing player. - psuhockey

You missed it. Deslauriers staying in the lineup is absolutely part of the premise. I haven't see anyone suggest Frost play on the 4th line. - MJL
No, instead you want Laughton or Cam to play on the 4th line |

You tell other people that they don't know or understand hockey. Yet you don't know that a top team needs 3 scoring lines.

I agree with 3 scoring lines, but I can trip over 3Cs in this league. The problem the Flyers have is a lack of a true 1C. |

Briere decides who’s on the NHL roster. This idea that Torts is the secret GM is nonsense. - psuhockey
Its also nonsense to think that the head coach doesn't have a huge influence as to who is on the roster

You know a great coach once said. If you’re going to listen to the fans you will soon sit with them. Great job torts. Ignore the noise and take us to the promise land. Who cares about Frost guy had a handful of productive games decided to be a hero and hang out for more money. Wasn’t very good now sits on his ass until he proves otherwise. Sounds like a plan to me. |

well hischier hasn't scored yet - 2Real
Like Torts says, you have to look at past performance. I’d say there aren’t 15 NHL centers better than Nico.

is the flyers leadership group a 3 headed monster? Are you really this naïve to think the coach/co-GM1 doesn't have say (nhl level)?
Just look at who was added and removed. Clear as day to some. |

Influence yes, final say no. Briere isn’t going to waste his possibly only shot at being a GM but letting Torts call the shots.
Don’t fall into the trap that every move I dislike is 100% Torts fault because I hate Tortorella. Saw the same thing with Hakstol during the Hextall years. |

When you get around 15 there’s room for debate. That’s my opinion.Try this. Can you name 15 teams that don’t have a better center than Nico ?

I don’t think only Tortorella could come to the conclusion that cutting bait on those two wasn’t an addition by substraction.
Right now it’s very easy to construct the narrative that Torts is in control because Briere hasn’t really done anything to show otherwise. Every move has been about lockerroom issues so far but he has only had one offseason to work. With the trade deadline and another offseason coming up, if he doesn’t do anything to show it is a rebuild and not a Torts retool I will agree that Briere is just rubber stamping what the coach wants. |

The Flyers absolutely have a true 1C. You can't trip over 3C's. Not good ones at least and the best way to get one, is to draft and develop one. Rather than trade or sign one. Saves on the cap.

Let's look at some facts. Tortorella has taken a team past the 2nd round of the playoffs once in his last 16 seasons as a head coach. Yea, take us to the promised land! LOL. You don't lead your team in ES scoring and total scoring over a 56 game sample by having just a handful of productive games. Your plan is a dud!

It's publicly documented that Briere does not have final say. That the Flyers front office is a triumvirate and a corroboration between Tortorella, Briere and Jones. When the head coach demotes a player who was an all star and was having a career offensive season and cuts his icetime. As well as scratching a defenseman for the last what, 5 games of the season. It's smacking you right in the face who made that call.

lockeroom issues lol. Both were very well liked. Neither were trouble makers. The fact they were well liked rubbed the coach the wrong way imo.
so what locker room issues were there last year? I am not a aware of any that I recall reading except some plyers gravitated towards hayes or something to that effect.
Was tony d acquired before or after torts was hired? the comment torts made about hayes when he was first hired shows he had very little interest in making it work. |
