they have Joni Mitchell at 9th overall and Stevie Ray Vaughn at #20 - jimbro83
Joni Mitchell was a bad ass (and a Canadian national treasure)!!!! She is only ever praised for her voice and song writing. But I remember watching a documentary that showed Eric Clapton sitting in front of her, mesmerized by seeing the guitar played in a way he had never even heard of before.

yeah, I am actually a huge fan, especially with her talent with using alternate tunings, but as a big fan I know that she wasn't a better guitar player than Stevie Ray Vaughn lol

Ok, I suppose that's fair. I was thinking more of defending Joni than the seemingly arbitrary rankings!!
how about Tom Morrello 18th while David Gilmour is 28th - jimbro83
Well, you know at least as well as I do that there are multitudes of absolutely insane guitarists out there. So, a list like this will always be subjective. I feel like any names could be moved around. There is precious little to separate the greats, other than personal style, innovation and presence.

All true ---- but a list that doesn't include Les Paul in the Top 40 is a joke! ( He came in at number 68! )

how about Sister Rosetta Tharpe at 6th overall - jimbro83
I am unfamiliar with her, so I have to reserve judgement.
The one that I find truly interesting is having Harrison just slightly rated ahead of Clapton. They were great friends and I wonder what they would think of that?

Where was the guy from Sum 41? - eichiefs9
Forget sum 41, go listen to his other band Organ Thieves. That was what he was doing when he left Sum41 and the album is a masterpiece. One of the only albums I can listen front to back
