The last game on Hulu was blacked out when I logged in as myself. I then logged in as someone who lives out of the area and got the game. Same account, different user names..... - mr4tno
Blackouts are dumb….they damage the local fanbase and inhibit the overall growth of the game.

From what I've seen of Andrae so far. He's not ready. Needs a half season or perhaps even a full season of AHL hockey. - MJL
Ginning looked good in preseason, but with the numbers game at LD, it didn’t seem likely. If the opportunity is there to get him some games, why not?

Completely agree with you there. I would assume that's also a big hurdle for people with limited budgets and elderly, who are not that techy.
Shame om team owner Comcast corporation for not allowing the games to be viewed through cable locally. - missingmike
Moved to Georgia, the espn+ is great for me but sucks for everyone in the Philly area.

Hopefully Andrae gets a lot of experience and playing time in LHV and gets himself more acclimated to the North American game. I dont really follow LHV hockey. For those of you on here who do watch, or for Bill, are there no other “kids” on D who’ve earned a call up and an opportunity to play for the big club? |

This whole ESPN+ to watch the flyers is annoying. Already two games this season have required a subscription. I am not buying ESPN+ in addition to my Xfiinity package just to watch flyers games, as I am not interested in other things on that channel.
I suspect that ESPN+ os going to end up decreasing hockey viewers over time. - MRK66
I've said this before several times: The subscription model will absolutely end up decreasing hockey viewership and fan interest. I compared it to what happened to boxing many years ago when they went to a PPV model. Before that, everyone knew who the HWT champion was and many other champions. At first, it was not a big deal, but over time, people (myself included) became detached from the sport. It's been a very long time since I could name a single champion boxer. They marginalized themselves. Hockey is already having trouble growing audiences in the US. Another paid subscription model for a channel that I don't watch on top of all of the other subscriptions I pay for things I do watch is simply not tenable. I understand that ESPN, and other sports networks, (like Bally) is in financial trouble and trying to monetize their content further makes some sense. But, other professional sports franchises (Utah Jazz and Phoenix Suns) make their games free to streaming in their local markets. And they get the ad revenue from those broadcasts instead of outsourcing it to a network like Bally that is in financial trouble.
That's my 2 cents.... ok,... 4 cents. I could be wrong, but not likely. |

Ill admit I bought it. The one positive is that I can watch Boston College games to keep up on Gauthier. - MBFlyerfan
I did, too. I enjoy being able to watch all the other NHL games as well. |

Does the fact that more Flyers games that were once being broadcast for the local fans are now only available through subscription services... and as I understand even being blacked out for some Flyers fans who are subscribed due to rules made up by the providers... bother anyone else?
Our STM account pays the Flyers for a full season of games... we have for over fifty years now... and split the games in equal halves games wise. In the not too distant past, we were able to watch just about all the games that were not the ones we attend... both home and away ones..., now there are games we cannot watch, and apparently even if we were to subscribe to other services due to their restrictions... I might have to now select games based on subscription basis... but then I'd hurt my partner.
Doesn't the Flyers have a moral obligation to provide their fans an opportunity to watch all their games? I do understand that in a free commerce society they have the right to do as they well please? ... Although the mighty NFL fans are guaranteed the right to be able to view ALL the games of their local teams.
I know my rant is basically Rhetorical, and meaningless... but I felt it had to be said. I hope they win tonight in the forest where all but about actually 20K local fans see them win (including subscribed fans actually allowed to l view) but I sadly will not be allowed to be one of them.//Rant - ForeverFlyer16
I very well could be mistaken, but I believe this is a league decision based on the contract with ESPN, not a Comcast/Flyers decision. The game last week was blacked-out on ESPN + for me, but I was able to get it on Hulu. I believe this was later corrected on ESPN +. Personally, I vehemently disagree with major sports leagues moving to paying subscription services (and of course they're ALL on different platforms), but it is their choice to make. All about the $. |

I do, too. There will likely be some degree of consolidation over the next several years, which will make it more palatable from a consumer spending perspective. |

Maybe the NHL will put a bundle together....sign up for this gambling site, get $100 to start off and pick either a 1 month sub for ESPN+, TNT, NHL On Demand, blah blah...
The NHL could start a streaming site that you have to pay money to spin a wheel that determines which game you get to watch, just keeping paying for a roll until the game you want shows up!
BTW NHL says gambling bad.

So Poehling is the stud keeping Frost out? Frost is litteraly out in the cold 🥶 - THE EVIL WITHIN
Frost is too skilled to replace Poehling. But if Poehling goes on a heater then he’ll move up and Laughton will have to move down.

Poehling was drafted two picks ahead of Frost. Why is it ok for him to play on the 4th line and not Frost? - Dkos
I am somewhat disappointed that Torts has now dragged this into 5 games for Frost…hell, sit down Poehling , move down Laughton and let Frost get some games in…I’ve watched that 4th line start the season somewhat respectable but the other night in Vegas they looked over matched.
I am also on board with Andrae getting more time in Lehigh. I think he has looked over matched and you can’t put a young guy in that position. I’m sure he’ll get his game going as an all situation d man playing 20 plus minutes a night.
Positives so far for me:
1). Sanheim.
2) Brink and Farabee.
3) Hart
4) Zamula
5) a healthy Coots and Atkinson. |
