ok now I'm starting to get jealous.

can't imagine how expensive those tickets would be at the Bell center

- Pat1993

when i go with watson (famed flyers poster watsonnostaw) his seats are like 19 rows up and up until now those were the best seats i ever sat in, but so far both comcast ticket games have been amazing seats.

crab fries? mofo

that sounds delicious.

- Pat1993

chickies & pete's is famous for their crab fries. and white cheddar dipping sauce.

we are having fun i guess. i learn more about the city (kickbro lived there for years) and he is learning more about hockey (tonight i explained why we are cheering when they get the puck out of the zone when shorthanded).

I thought you were both hockey fans, I guess your bro is a very casual one. that's cool though, teaching him the rules.

he really isn't into any sports. i didn't think he'd even be interested in the rules but last game when the first icing happened he asked me why they stopped so now i'm explaining the rules to him. he says "there are a lot of rules", and i guess there are now that i think about it. interestingly, when i was explaining icing and i mentioned how you used to race to the puck he said he remembered that part from when i was was watching games on tv when we were kids.

also, there was a fight 2 seconds into the game tonight so i explained how players challenge each other sometimes when they're lining up for the faceoff but that it's usually the second or third period, not right off the bat like that.

EDIT: here's a view from the seats

yeah it's kind of special explaining the game and the rules to someone else, kinda makes you think about them from a different perspective, and realize how absurd they can seem at first lol.

awesome game here in habs land too, sweet OT victory after trailing 3-1, Caufield with the winner. apes dancing and poop.

i will try to watch the highlight vid on nhl.com if they still have the highlights on there like they used to.

also, 2 whiskey and cokes (doubles, but still) cost over $60 at the flyers game!!

damn. I hope it wasn't just the cheap stuff at least, even though after a few beers you can't really tell the difference anymore.

if it's available, the Caufield winner was pretty sweet, with a little "swish" move right after to celebrate lol.

it was just seagrams VO. (which is actually fine for a whiskey and coke, i'm just kidding with the crying emoji).

i bought the first round of drinks after the beers but i just told myself to pay with my card and not look, but then kickbro bought the second round and told me what we had spent. so it was basically $60 everywhere we went, chickie's and pete's and both times at the bar. they get away with murder with these prices!

i don't make a ton but i'm lucky that my company has given me generous raises. everything costs so much more now. when i bought the condo and left my last apartment (6 years ago, i guess) you had to have a really nice apartment for rent to be over $1000. now, this super tiny studio apartment i got until they finish rebuilding the house was $900 and if i was going to renew it it was $1020! for a one room, 420 square foot studio apartment in the ghetto!

I'm not sure how much exactly that equates between 'Murican and Canadian dollars/economic contexts but that's insane.

think of it this way, when i bought the condo a studio apartment like this was probably $695/month. in new jersey, you could expect a $20 increase every year. sometimes you'd get a year where it wouldn't go up, but for the most part it was right around a $20 increase every year. that was my whole life growing up. at that rate, this place should be like $815 or something. but now it's $1020 somehow. that's crazy. even with the fire, i'm so lucky i bought when i did.

ok so it's very similar to what happened here. I didn't move and I was lucky my rent barely went up, currently it's about half of the average monthly rent in Gatineau, so let's just say I'm glad everything is fine here and don't have to move elsewhere loll.

i guess if i think about it (and i think i just did for the first time), this isn't the end of the world. the condo was already worth 40-50k more than i bought it for just because the market changed so drastically. and now, if i ever go to sell it, it's not a condo that was built in 1985, it's a condo that was built in 2023, so it's worth even more.
