That was for the lithium rich content which was/is the ONLY thing Afghanistan has other than sand and rocks.
The new oil based on all of the tech toys we have which requires lithium. And your precious “world-saving” electric vehicles. Which is a total crock of poop, as mining for batteries is arguably worse than mining for oil.
Times, they are a changing. - Snots33_77
It depends, if you think that global warming it the biggest threat to the planet than it's really not.
Plus those batteries can now be recycled.
Plus the lithium is not really the problematic metal it's cobalt and other rare metals and they are working on lithium-iron batteries.

God for the environment after the lithium is mined and before the batteries need to be disposed of. What happens when millions and millions of batteries need to be disposed of??
I guess there’s still a bit of room in the ocean.
It’s a lateral move against big oil, at best. - Snots33_77
Go argue whit "Quebec Science" its their numbers not mine, but yes it was taking into consideration even the mining
and I'm taking their word over yours haha |

It’s still a convoluted industry with iffy means, if you ask me.
And currently, as it stands in this country, we only recycle only 5% of what we put in our blue boxes or take to a recycling depot. Even though we are told that EVERYTHING with a recycling symbol on it is recyclable. We can’t even build a proper recycling program/infrastructure in this country (many many others as well). I’m not so sure that the electric car industry is ready for the influx of spent batteries.

Honestly, batteries are the only way super cars can get faster now. But, that doesn’t make the whole process alright.
Also, the batteries last 9 minutes in the super cars when trying to beat speed records! 🤣😂 |

That's because most of the time market value for plastic or glass is cheaper than the cost of recycling those materials.
That's not the case with a 20 000$ lithium battery

Fair enough. But it’s still a misleading recycling program that nobody really knows anything about . |

Even in mining equipement and big machinery it's diesel power generators that power electric motor because there's a limit to how much HP you can create with an explosion engine. |

And you are right that it's a budding industry because until recently the volume of electric cars wasn't there. But it'S going to start to be more and more present, so the recycling will gain momentum but it can be recycled.
The whole cobalt argument and the living conditions conditions is just kinda BS used by the haters. Nobody cares about living conditions of Africans or people in North Korea. It's something that's thrown around on facebook by electric car haters |

I appreciate the info Fredo!! Thanks. I’m sure I’ll have to trade my truck in for an electric vehicle at some point. So it’s nice to know what you’re getting into. 👍🏻
Also, I don’t have Facebook. Probably the last person on earth not to, but it’s for the best. |
