This could be the silver lining. Lindholm, while having a tough go at it to start this year, really stepped up in McAvoy's absence to start last season, and proved himself to be a solid 1D for the duration of the injury. This is the perfect opportunity for him to clean it up and return to form.

Kinda what I was thinking too. Part of me really wants to see Lohrei get some time while Gryz is out too. I'm not sure that will happen this go around, but it would be fun if it did.

Really surprised we haven't seen any movements announced yet. Clearly some d-men need to be brought up from Providence but I haven't seen any announcements.

Providence has an away game tonight. Might be letting them play and then making the move prior to the Toronto game tomorrow night.

Who knows though. My best guess is Mitchell and Zboril get the call up.

Several moves would have to be made to fit Zboril's salary. They only have something like $55K of space right now according to Capfriendly but of course they are overloaded on forwards.

Would putting Gryz on IR create enough space? I thought they might do that depending on the severity of his injury. Not sure how long he is supposed to be out.

Kinda surprised Zboril wasn't one of them. Wonder if he isn't a kicker for a potential trade deal and they were afraid of putting him back on waivers again?

Might be. Either that or he is just a diminished asset at this point. If he isn't moved, I dont see him being resigned. He has never been able to elevate his play to see consistent time with the big club.

Before the knee injury a couple of seasons ago he was actually playing "decent" but just seemed to never recover after that. I would actually like to see him get a chance with another club...don't hate the kid.

I dont hate him either. I just think his time in Boston is done. He might do better with a fresh start, I certainly hope he does. Getting sent down probably didnt do him any favors but his preseason play was meh.

Calgary has put all contract talks on hold with their free agents. It certainly feels like some moves might happen early this season.

Strangely enough, i noticed that Lindholm and Shattenkirk were swapping sides in one of the last two games. I was wondering if they were doing this to test their flexibility in case they wanted to call Lohrei up.

I think Lohrei will start out with Carlo as well.

Latest report has Forbert questionable for Thursday. Third pairing is now Mitchell and Wortherspoon. Going to be a very tough test. Forward lines (at least for today's practice) were all jumbled as well but Marchy was on a maintenance day. Although it doesn't really make sense for Marchy to be on a maintenance day with two days off between games. Our goaltending better be spot on.
