The odd thing is that the nhl knew when the team was sold and kept it under wraps…

I don't get how that information was not passed around ... doesn't the league have central database where all team managers would be able to check those things (ie. NMC) before completing a trade?

Michael Andlauer, who bought the Ottawa Senators for $950 million in September, sold his 10% minority interest in the Montreal Canadiens at a record $2.5 billion enterprise value, Sportico reported Wednesday.

The Molson family, which owns a controlling stake in the Canadiens, exercised their option of the first right to buy Andlauer's stake.

Indeed ... but you'd think the league would have an OFFICIAL source that all team GM's could consult. Boggles my mind that this type of things happens in this day and age.

yeah it's pretty baffling, everyone involved in that was incompetent in some way imho, even if it's Dorion and the sens that ended up paying.

it says "sold his 10% minority interest in the Montreal Canadiens at a record $2.5 billion enterprise value", so it's not what I'm reading.

ok so I think I get it, he sold his 10% while the habs were valued at a record 2.5B, which makes a lot more (frank)ing sense lolll
