I've been saying it for a while now...this team will compete for a playoffs spot up until march.
They might even make it! |

aren't they all in their 60's or early 70's?

I expected a blow out, went to bed early (after the 1st) but I am fully supportive of taking it easy with Slaf and let him develop. Trust the process, I hope he is great when he is 22/23yrs old
Slaf is 19 FFS |

ok my comment was a bit unfair but it sucks when fans are down on 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 yrs players. Even most of the best in this league were not or did not look all that great when they started in this league
I guess people here dont know what to expect cause mtl never went with a true rebuild with young prospects with potential
they want to see something right away and not dealing with the learning curve |

Slaf improved a lot since last year.
last season he was only trying to survive out there. it's a miracle he didn't get a concussion.
this season he no longer has that problem. he is still far far away fom being a top6 player, but the head is up. that's one thing he learned.
now should he be on the top6? wouldn't he be better on the 3rd line? or even in Laval? meh, who cares. I'll trust they will do what is best for him. like you said he is a few years away from being relevent. |

Excellent recap Karine.
Our young defense is playing well, Monahan was a monster yesterday (over 80% in the faceoffs circle!!) and Montembeault was solid when he needed to be.
I remember we were at the same point last year with Money. The man can obviously help this team, he's young enough to still be effective in 3-4 years when we can compete but his health remains a concern.
If he stays healthy all year, they'll have to make that call near the deadline and consider how much it would cost to keep him vs the potential return. I trust Hughes will make the right call on this. - Scabeh
I said early last year, before injuries, that I would not be surprised if Monahan was signed to a multi-year deal rather than traded.
People told me that was a dumb idea.
Well, I double down on that. If they can get Monahan on a 3 year deal at a reasonable price, that is better than trading him.

I do expect Monahan to move up to second line center, not 1st line winger, when Dvorak comes back.

He played a lot better with Dach, but I suspect a lot of players would do that. I do not think Newhook is the right center for him, that is why I expect Monahan to be paired with Slaf when Dvorak comes back.

question is...if he wants 5M/yr for 4yrs....still do it?
or do you trade him at the TDL and tell him they want him back next summer? |
