I think he has the exact same role on a contender as he does here, a playoff hopeful.
Maybe not the first line but I see nothing wrong with him being complementary on any of the three lines. Of course, the way he's utilized in Buffalo is how much preferred than how he was utilized in Minnesota, which really became that 4th line guy. - TheSabresTaco
Is he playing with Thompson because he deserves to be there or because meatballs is trying to spread the wealth of tuch and skinner
Hes undoubtedly on the 3rd line if they sign kane when Quinn is healthy. Which also brings me back to where do all these rookies go?
Kulich deserves to be here now and he's 4th in line apparently |

Well if you're a Pat Kane guy then I've got some good news for you.
With Quinn and Kane in the lineup, they'll have a full, non-rookie roster. - TheSabresTaco
With one small exception in goal...

Greenway complements most of their skilled players pretty well. Don't see any problem with how they are using him. It's working. - Lunaion
I’m kinda glad Donnie whispered quietly, but pounded a firm table for greenway
Imagine watching the 1st dozen games and not liking his play |

It's the fun part. Benson really has it. We'll get a look at Savoie, if that's not quite ready, we get Kulich. If we come out the other side of that with VO, I'll be pissed. - Lunaion
Great time to hold tryouts before Kane is ready and Quinn for that matter

Greenway now has a team-leading 58 percent expected goal share at five-on-five this season

Who doesn't like his play?
Hes playing on the 1st line because the winger depth is comprised of someone who is hurt, a press box ornament and a couple rookies.
One rookie who is hurt and probably not going to play here anymore this season and one who we are going to get a good look at shortly |

Some other quick hits from the Athletic article this morning.
"With Cozens out, the Sabres went back to familiar lines. Thompson played with Skinner and Tuch. Mittelstadt centered Peterka and Greenway. That line skated to an 88 percent expected goal share at five-on-five. Meanwhile, Tyson Jost, Zemgus Girgensons and Kyle Okposo were on the ice for more than six minutes of even-strength ice time together, and the Leafs didn’t have a single scoring chance during that time. Peyton Krebs and Victor Olofsson both played less than eight minutes.
Clifton was a standout in this game. When he was on the ice at five-on-five, the Sabres had a 10-2 advantage in scoring chances."
Wasn't a fan of the trade either, didn't like his play last year. Was hoping he was the next Girgensons if anything. Glad Granato worked his magic. |

The Mittelstadt - Greenway pair worked well early in the season with Greenway.
Makes sense that Peterka would be a good fit.
We know the 4th line is some combination of Krebs, Jost, Girgensons, and Okposo, which leaves the Cozens line as the question mark.
Nobody wants Olofsson there.
Who among Benson, Savoie, Kulich, Quinn and Patrick Kane will end up being Cozens wingers?
My money is on Quinn and Patrick Kane. |

Sabres are not a cup contender lol |

They don't have their top 3 lines figured out yet. Greenway's played well with Tage, Mitts has played well with Skinner. I don't see anything wrong with building around what's working.

One thing I'll give credit for to Granato this year, is he's really utilizing the guys they brought in properly. Clifton not so much but he could be turning the corner after the latest game. |

Clifton needs to boost his consistency. I think he's been less terrible than people think. He had two clunkers but the rest have been fine.
