Clifton needs to boost his consistency. I think he's been less terrible than people think. He had two clunkers but the rest have been fine. - TheSabresTaco
I think it was Philly on Friday(The game he came back) he was making some terrible decisions.
New team, "system", linemates. I'll give him the benefit right now but I agree he has to be more consistent. |

Yeah that was one of them.
One would hope that a vet could come into camp and he able to be competent consistently but whatever. Doesn't always click during the shift from new coaches/systems.
He does some good things and I'm staying optimistic on him.
Wish I could say the same thing about Krebs. Not sure if anyone saw it coming but what a total whiff this year in his assigned role. |

Benson and Savoie might not stick, but they are pocketing some nice money in the process too.

Some other quick hits from the Athletic article this morning.
"With Cozens out, the Sabres went back to familiar lines. Thompson played with Skinner and Tuch. Mittelstadt centered Peterka and Greenway. That line skated to an 88 percent expected goal share at five-on-five. Meanwhile, Tyson Jost, Zemgus Girgensons and Kyle Okposo were on the ice for more than six minutes of even-strength ice time together, and the Leafs didn’t have a single scoring chance during that time. Peyton Krebs and Victor Olofsson both played less than eight minutes.
Clifton was a standout in this game. When he was on the ice at five-on-five, the Sabres had a 10-2 advantage in scoring chances."
Wasn't a fan of the trade either, didn't like his play last year. Was hoping he was the next Girgensons if anything. Glad Granato worked his magic. - DirtyDan
Took the meatballs long enough. Needed Cozens to go down I guess. Only think I would have changed is Olofsson on the right on the first unit PP. his shot has to be respected and would free up Tage. Especially on the 5-3 |

if they refuse to actually find a different strategy then olofsson 100% needs to be on the right
plus if he's dressed and hes not on PP1 where its the only place hes even remotely useful, then what gives
they figured out the PK apparently, hope they figure out the PP

Cozens has worked well in the top 6 as well. Just doesn't seem like any combination gives them a 3rd line atm.

Interesting, so I believe that means he signed a PTO, got hurt and lost it, but is now getting another shot. Good for Pissboi, always liked him and his lawn mowing. |

Yeah, need Quinn back and things fall together much easier. Even if he does end up on the 3rd line to spread the wealth, it'll really even out the lineup. |

One of the biggest myths in Buffalo is that VO is good on the PP.
Everyone knows how hard they press for a Tage one-timer, it's much much worse with VO, but he can't do anything else.

Quinn + Kulich and you've got a top 9.
VO, Jost, Krebs and you don't.

Pretty sure the impact of Olofsson on the power play has been found to not be positive. |

thats why they need to be on at the same time
it should either open one of them up or make the middle of the ice free real estate
in theory

Olofsson is great on the powerplay: No, he's not. Olofsson has a great shot that teams expect to be utilized on the powerplay
Krebs is a great playmaker: No, he's not. He's a great passer.
Lance went in on the Olofsson is good on the powerplay narrative last or two weeks ago and got roastitoed. |

It's a shame because I think he could be Buffalo's next quality utility forward at a dirt floor price. |
