I agree with keeping him there, but the Andy/Newhook/Slaf line wasn't working, and they weren't showing signs of improvement, so changes were needed. - Pat1993
this
and it seems to be working for Slaf away from that line, so...
I think it was too much too soon as well for Newhook to step up as the 2nd C and replace Dach, one of mtl best forwards skill wise |

Newhook surely hasn't reached his full potential yet with the habs but yeah, losing a guy like Dach for the whole year was going to hurt the team no matter what.

Where does Bergevin work these days? Only guy who would take that contract on. - AdamFrench
its more of an off season type of move
could work if mtl takes a contract back with $$
he goes off and cold usually, he will get ""hot"" once again |

Habs made smart moves like "taking on" Monahan and hoping for a jump, hoping Dach's hand could heal and grabbing Newhook who was lost on a contender. The rebuild isn't over, but they've done some good moves and all that needs to improve is development. Looking at Laval right now and it's night and day vs the Habs system style of development from years ago. |

I agree 100%, and this new management team is definitely a breath of fresh air compared to previous regimes in terms of player potential and development, now they just need to get it going in Laval because it's a rather slow start for the Rocket, although I guess it was somewhat to be expected, with so many new players things don't always gel right away between them. |

I know it's one dude, but Joshua Roy's insanity shows a glimmer of hope that Laval is turning into a team that wants to develop and not just win the Calder Cup. |

Have the Habs made a buy yet?
Are they in the check-out isle, at least? |

they have a lot of young players with no pro experience down there. Most teams in the AHL use vets to get their wins
its more about progress than W and L, but I guess the team should get better later on during the season, unless maybe they have to call back 10 guys from Laval |
