I think the other night they looked gassed collectively, hence why they blew the 3-0 lead. They had a 5 game trip, then one home game and then back in a different time zone all in short order. Itā€™ll be good for them to have a couple days off, a week of home games and then a 5 day break. Theyā€™ll need to grind out a lot of games without Fox or Chytil in there

So my thinking is we are very proactive here and see what it would take to steal Lebanc from San Jose. Guy has 1 assist through 7 games heā€™s still young and feel like he could be had for peanuts. Cap hit isnā€™t so bad. Thoughts???

The Rangers have 3 combined points from Kakko and Wheeler. They don't need more dead weight at RW. (Wheeler has been batter lately.)

That first line is just not working. Kreider is doing what he is supposed to do, but Zib and Kakko I know Kakko is the focus, and he has been terrible, but Zib is just as terrible and hes supposed to drive that line.

I mean you're not wrong. Zibanejad is more noticeable that Kakko. Kakko has been terrible. That lines works when it comes to looking at in a deeper dive. But I'm almost at the end of my rope with Kakko. He, Jones and Schneider were flat out terrible Saturday.

Schneider has been so depressing to watch. What happened to him? He only had a few good games so far.

Honestly the only team Id want to talk to right now is Calgary for Lindholm. They probably wouldnt trade him but Id kick tires on Marchenko from CBJ.

...and of course the obvious trade of them all, Id reach out to Ottawa on a 50% retained trade for Tarasenko.

I'm with you on Calgary. Would like to get Hanafin from them as well.

To Cal: Kakko, Jones, Robertson 1st and 4th

To NYR: Hanafin 50% and Lindholm 50%

or is that too much of a pipe dream?

Its the growing pains of being a defenseman in the NHL, growth at that position is anything but linear. Once players and coaches have enough film on you, they can break down every little chink in your armor. I think he plays better when he pairs with someone who plays like him, rather than playing with an offensive guy. It might be that hes trying to do too much positionally, its not nearly that bad with Gustafsson, but its horrendous with Jones on the ice. Jones alone is bad, but when Schneider is trying to cheat positionally leaving himself out of position when play moves around its a horrible combination.

I know I said Lindholm and Tarasenko in my previous post, but a 3rd pairing LD is a right now problem that needs to be addressed.

It should go one of 2 ways. Call up Ben Harpur for a month. They know each other very well... or you move Schneider up to play with Lindgren and call up Hollowell.

Like a large majority of this team, consistently inconsistent.

Thats a ridiculous pipedream. First off, if you get Hanafin, you need to trade either Lindgren or Miller. It would be a amazing to have all 3 but Lindgren and Hanafin are due extensions, and Millers comes next year.

Secondly, Kakko might have little value here and there but its mediocre value at best. Jones and Robertson arent worth anything right now. Im sure theres a dozen teams in the league that could come up with a better package then that. Especially with the retention.

I would say that if you're getting both of those players, both at 50% discounts, you're going to be giving up more than one piece that you don't want to part with

Oh I'm greedy and I want it all. The retention for the most part is gonna be moot for Calgary cause it won't really affect them after this year. It really is gonna come down to the picks and the players they get in return and you are right that other team might have more to offer but will they.

Seems like every other team is able to make cap situations work to get the player they want but the Rangers are always playing safe and worrying about tomorrow.
