That first line is just not working. Kreider is doing what he is supposed to do, but Zib and Kakko I know Kakko is the focus, and he has been terrible, but Zib is just as terrible and hes supposed to drive that line.

I mean you're not wrong. Zibanejad is more noticeable that Kakko. Kakko has been terrible. That lines works when it comes to looking at in a deeper dive. But I'm almost at the end of my rope with Kakko. He, Jones and Schneider were flat out terrible Saturday.

l disagree with many on this point. The top line has not produced, obviously. But, they have only given up 1 goal against a 5v5. Hardly a situation that MUST be addressed before any other. There has not been one season that Zibanejad hasn't started out slowly and then gone off like a firecracker. I say, if they can continue to not cost us on the scoreboard, let them work it out. We have limited options for shuffling. I think, while probably ending up short of expectations, KK will still end up making progress on the season as a whole.

I would say that if you're getting both of those players, both at 50% discounts, you're going to be giving up more than one piece that you don't want to part with

which means Othman or Perrault...I might consider it if extensions would be worked out.

Like a large majority of this team, consistently inconsistent.

Rangers are 8 2 1 and sit in first place, 4th in the league only 11 games in and already we have people clamoring to trade the few young players we have to let them go and become top players on another team. Didnt the Sens do that with Zib??

Do we really need a major trade??? Cap space be damned!!!

Hurricanes PR

@CanesPR
Goaltender Jaroslav Halak is joining the Hurricanes as a free agent tryout. Frederik Andersen is dealing with a medical issue and undergoing evaluations. An update will be provided when available, but no further comment will be issued until that time.

You know the most active player Kakko has a similarity score to?

Chris Tierney.

So my thinking is we are very proactive here and see what it would take to steal Lebanc from San Jose. Guy has 1 assist through 7 games he’s still young and feel like he could be had for peanuts. Cap hit isn’t so bad. Thoughts???
- Awolff9

I’d get on board with getting Duclair from SJ. Speed guy who shoots the puck. I know he’s been hurt but I doubt he’d cost much other than a draft pick. Cap wise he’s fairly cheap at 3 million bucks. Anything they do can’t be until the TDL most likely

Through 281 games with the Sens, Zibanejad had 151 points. Through 250 games Kaapo Kakko has 100 points and is comparable to Chris Tierney. Zibanejad was 2x 20 goal scorer at the time of this trade and 50 point player. Kakko has accomplished all of that... ZERO times thus far.

We might have to just face facts that Kakko might be bad comparable to the rest of the NHL.

Lindholm, Duclair, Tarasenko That's the wish list for me. Get one of them.

And you are correct. He's not getting better. This now no longer on the rangers and it's not on Laviolette, he's put him in spot to thrive and he's reverting.

True, but then again you are comparing 2 players who had very different roles on their teams. Zib was playing top 6 minutes and PP time on the Sens before they traded him. KK has had very little, consistent top 6 minutes until this year and lets face it almost zero PP time.

Mika has always had slow starts, if he nets a few goals KK stats look a little better. Give him a little more than 11 games in the top 6 before you give up on him and trade away a cost controlled asset.

Not as much anger hear as it sounds like, but...

you guys are all fucked.
Like Brukie said, we are off to one of the best starts in team history and sit in 1st place in the division. And, people want to make major changes because our young winger isn't scoring 10 games in?????? WT actual F?
He is not the worst he's ever looked. He is statistically fine outside of not scoring. His linemates are not producing 5v5, either. He is a +1, with 4 takeaways and 3 giveaways.
These are stats belonging to someone that is not putting the puck in the net, not someone who can't figure out how to play in the NHL.
This fanbase must ALWAYS have something to female dog about. Leave the fucking kid alone to figure shit out. He hasn't cost us anything.

My first course of action is switching Kakko and wheeler. Not a major shakeup lol.

How long we supposed to wait for this “kid”? That’s the point too, he isn’t a kid anymore. He’s in his 5th season ffs

I dont understand how people want to acquire players regardless of the Cap hit. I also love the "Bring Othmann up and put him on the first line" Chant. Like that will work out well, kid hasnt played a shift in an NHL game but we will put him on the first line, yeah that doesnt look like its penned to be a disaster.

So a rookie has never ever played on a NHL first line? He’s fast. Kreider is fast. Zib is fast. You know who isn’t fast? Kakko

Wheeler looks like he is skating in mud!!

Give the "Kid" more than 11 games on the first line. I dont think he has looked that bad and he is very reliable defensively. Mika hasnt done anything but we haven't heard the demote Mika to the third line chants. How come???

Score goals or setting them up??? You just contradicted your self. Wheeler has one assist and zero goals in 11 games. He is doing neither.

5v5 Mika and CK20 have always been slow to start. Give them time.
