Someone suggesting Soup to Philly for Hart? Zero chance of that, even zero chance last season when Hart couldn’t stop a beach ball. That’s how GM’s get fired. Holland once again has to sweeten the pot to rid a bad contract.
Hurricanes need a goaltender, but they won’t be looking at the Oilers for one.
Good luck to whoever GM’s their way out of that Oiler mess - nanook82
You missed the key part of the deal. Philly also gets a 1st round pick, assets like Holloway/Broberg, perhaps more. You pay a steep price on the hope that Hart goes supernova which then inspires the rest of the roster to play with more confidence. Campbell's trade value is significantly negative.
Another approach. Send Campbell to Chicago who is in a long rebuild. His cap hit doesn't matter to them. But you attach a 1st and someone like Broberg/Holloway maybe they take it. You then make a massive move to break up the core. Draisitl to Boston for a Swayman package. Draisitl to Nashville for a Saros package. You admit he's not extending here and finally add a top 10 goalie.

Ullmark might be available. Swayman has stepped up and he is the heir apparent.
Ulllmark still a year left after this one.
And the Bruins need picks.... |

After last night, I've changed my mind. He’s the perfect fit for the Oilers. - Load Management
Gibson alone isn't enough for Draisaitl. I would NEVER sell/trade Draisaitl unless someone was going to overpay big time. If we did not have McDavid, I would NEVER trade Draisaitl...his offense is too good, his contract is too good, etc. etc. But proper asset management means you do not fall in love with ANY of your players, everyone has a price, and since we certainly do not need two all-star centres that don't play much defense...one of them is expendable and can fetch a ransom to fill out the rest of the roster's needs. I choose McDavid over Draisaitl, making Leon the guy to shop. We could have had all of the missing pieces needed.
I really do think it's too late now. Instead of bargaining from a position of strength 2 or 3 years ago, now the vultures are circling and not many will overpay. I really don't know what they should do now...they're kind of screwed.
When a true leader/winner is in the situation the Oilers are now in, they probably hit the gym after the game, go for a run, watch tape, etc. etc. I just don't feel like this leadership group does that. I think they go home with their girlfriends and sleep it off "tomorrow's another day"...."things will turn around because we're talented"...etc.
Well, they're in the NHL, and as the saying goes "when talent meets talent, talent it not good eough". These lady-boys have to work. They just aren't workers.
Bouchard looks like about the dumbest, laziest, simplest idiot i've seen in a long time. CLOSE YOUR MOUTH and at least try to look intelligent! lol |

Q was the lowest ranking person in the room. He gets called into a meeting that include the team President, Vice-President, Senior Vice-President, GM, Assistant GM...and then Q. Collectively, the decision was to delay for a few weeks and then dismiss the alleged offender. So what was Q supposed to do in that situation. "Hey I know I'm the lowest ranked person in the room, but I disagree with all of you and I'm going to call 911 right now in case any of this stuff is actually true". As a group they did the wrong thing, but let's not pretend Q had an easy way out of this situation.
Oh, and 2nd chances happen all over the NHL. Bob Probert. Doug Gilmour. Theo Fleury. Ryan O'Reilly. Patrick Kane. Auston Matthews Keep going? - Cooleus

It’s too bad if it happens because I don’t see him being the problem here and he shouldn’t get scapegoated. It was a monumental error to go into the season again with the same D and goaltending that wasn’t good enough last year. Hoping and praying for internal growth is the road to ruins. We’ve all seen it before with years of endless rebuilding here. Now we actually have decent talent and can’t properly support them because of poor cap management. - Ihatebrianburke
You can have seth jones half retained for #1 and holloway. |

hahahahhahahahaha....you wanna know what he did? He was straightforward, honest, and hard nosed. He is a hard-nosed, pull no punches, no BS kind of guy, and you softies hate that. So he got punished. People just didn't like him because he is "a big meanie". lol

Who cares? I’ll get into it again come playoff time if they make it, if not, I’ll enjoy the spring weather, Probably gonna do some landscaping upgrades on my property, there’s plenty of more productive things to do with my time than fret over hockey. Kinda miss battling trolls on here though. Oh well, life goes on. |

It's a shame that the Canucks team has a good work ethic this year, some decent players, a great coaching staff...but the same non-informed, unemployed vegan hipster 40yr old douchebags supporting them. It's the only city I've watched a game in where the fans boo when their team ices it short-handed, or rags the puck to kill time. The only city that plays music while the game is still on. I guess it's the decades of years at the PNE Coliseum where over 50% of the fans went to see the other team. The Canucks have had some decent teams since, but it's always the fans of that city that tarnish the reputation.

Hockey fans in Vancouver have always been douche bags. A little bit of history:
Today, Sept. 8, marks the 40th anniversary of Game Four in the epic 1972 Summit Series, played at the Pacific Coliseum. For Team Canada, Vancouver would prove to be the low point. The booing began during Team Canada’s pre-game warm-ups, while Soviet players were cheered during introductions. The game ended in a decisive 5-3 Soviet win as Team Canada fell behind in the series, 1-2-1, heading into the four Russian games. Our Canadian heroes were booed off the Coliseum ice. And that upset Phil Esposito. “Every one of us guys, 35 guys that came out and played for Team Canada, we did it because we love our country, and not for any other reason,” Esposito told the TV audience as he stood on the ice that night. “They can throw the money for the pension fund out the window.... We came because we love Canada... and I don’t think it’s fair that we should be booed.” |

It must make losing 3 straight to us sting even more. Ask your local Pharmacist. I'm pretty sure they have a creme for the butt hurt you're experiencing. McDavid probably even endorses one by now. |

Not really. I truly appreciate the work ethic and effort of the Canucks this year and their tendy is a stud. I'm also jealous of the coaching staff.
For the first time in decades I really don't mind that team. The fans however, are still commie pinko beta males that can't even play ball hockey let alone skate! |

For sure. You're a Goalie too? Gotta admit age has taken it's toll on my t push and shuffle steps. I actually prefer skating in players skates now. Far easier on my lower body. |
