And then look at 22-23. And I never said anything about wins, how they were playing - ClaudeFather
I'm already familiar with the stats. You're being fooled by early season hockey and the schedule. Water finds its level. Sample size matters. As other teams ramp up, the advantage the Flyers are using will disappear and the true team will emerge.

Honest question…
The power play is again abysmal. Can’t win in this league with an at least decent power play.
So, I ask… how is Asst. coach Rocky Thompson, participant of 25 NHL games with 0G/0A/0P qualified to run the PP?!?! - Stockman72
we should get Kerr and LeClair to run the PP?

Just have to laugh at the Frost/Torts situation.
Just another example of why allowing the disgusting pigs that have treated this thing like a country club for decades - have any influence in the hiring, and retention of staff. Anything to keep the Flyers family employed, and outdated culture alive.
When is the next alumni night?
Jones going to hire another one of his buddies soon?
John Tortorella. Our spiritual leader they called him no? Laughable. |

Lack of playing experience should not be the point-Hitch and Hartley never played a game either. But incompetence is a huge point - missingmike
Belichek never played in the NFL.... agreed, it should not be a prerequisite

I dont think anyone was expecting us to be close to a playoff spot this year, and everyone is moaning they lost to a bad team This year is going to be awful. Not sure why anyone is expecting better than that. I just wish they would trade a few players |

Nothing to do with losing.
Just don’t lie to a fanbase about a rebuild when you are chicken poop to move Laughton, TK, or Hart. When you employ a moron HC when it comes to developing young players in 2023.
Better yet, don’t lie about a rebuild then bench talented kids to play known low ceiling veterans.
It’s all bullpoop - but thank god everyone other than Fletcher or Camillo got to keep a job right?
New era indeed. |

I completely agree with the basis of your premise but making bad decisions in running a hockey team does not make someone a disgusting pig.

Sure I’ll agree with you.
On a personal level, community events. Blah blah. I’m sure they are nice people.
It’s pretty clear what happens to those that worship at the altar or that country club this summer though, just see STG - and PHLY sports. The tone shift is comical.
The old timers, the men who have held positions with this team for years without a sniff of accountability should have been out of a job this summer, and before we get excited - I’m not taking about Clarke.
Instead we add a “new” Flyer generation in LeClair, and Sharp?
We saw first hand with Hextall, and Camillo what happened when someone tried to rock the boat.
This team doesn’t care about success. Being an actual exciting product for a generation that isn’t obsessed with WWE. As long as the Flyers stay the Flyers, and the family remains employed. Frank Sinatra blares in the background. |

I hope you realize they Flyers aren't TRYING to lose. They're really not that good. - Pelle31Forever I realize that they aren't trying to lose. They have no talent and are about to get curb stomped by the Ducks, Kings and Canes. And the schedule doesn't get any easier after that. They have to play balls to the wall every night to have a chance. They didn't go into last nights game ready to play and they lost to the worst team in the league. The writing is on the wall.

I think they absolutely care about success. I just don't think they have a clue about how to obtain it. Stuck in old ways and hanging onto buzz words such as culture and accountability. They have not adapted with the modern day NHL that is about talent and skill rather than about intangibles. The Flyers have the worst coach they possibly could've hired for a rebuild. He is an archaic dinosaur that fits right in with their way of thinking. Hung up on work ethic, playing the Flyers way. Outworking the opposition, etc. Torterella scratches players because that is the only tool he has in his toolbox. Overmatched in strategy and systems. He is basically the NHL version of a used car salesman. Such as announcing there is an issue in the locker room before every stepping foot into it. He'll talk about playing with speed and aggressiveness but doesn't know how to coach it affectively.

They care about success as long as it’s done their way. As long as they win by playing Flyer hockey, or success be damned. An alumni night is as important as finding a way to maximize trade value for say Scott Laughton.
For as keen as they are to treat Frost like poop, there isn’t a lick of accountability for men employed in FO or scouting/development roles. It’s a country club.
Regarding Frost, he’s just an example. Most certainly not the last, and one could wager the next targets to be York or Farabee. How many true star players has this team had since Lindros?
Maybe one? When Giroux was drafted in 2006? They seem to be infused into the league every year. Just not Philadelphia. Anything to avoid that dreaded “rebuild”.
They couldn’t develop a pair of tits if their last name was Kardashian. The men employed by this team are damn lucky they are working in a market overshadowed by the Eagles, and Phillies. They would be eviscerated, and rightfully so north of the border. |

Another problem is not only do the Flyers suck at developing players. They suck at developing coaching talent. There is not a single person in the organization being groomed or looks to have the pedigree to become an NHL head coach. Even if they fired Tortorella, which they should, are there any internal candidates to take his place? I don't see any. - MJL

What else could they say about Michov? He is there for 3 years regardless of their rebuild timeline. Also, when has a Flyer executive ever told the truth went speaking to the media or fanbase? - mr4tno

Talking about ex-flyers and country club. Ex-flyer Dave Tippett would be a perfect veteran coach for this ex-flyers organization.

How about you give Briere at least a trade deadline before saying what he will or won’t do.
As far as Frost, how many coaching hires does a GM get before the heats’ turned up on them; maybe two. If you are Briere and you know the team is going to be bad for at least two more seasons no matter who coaches because it has no talent, is Morgan Frost the player worth using up one of his coaches hires on right now? Or maybe is it better to keep the loud mouth coach the center of the attention while the team sucks and save one of your coaching hires for when the team has the talent to compete. |

Yes, Morgan Frost is worth it. It's not just about Frost. It's about the commitment to playing the kids. He's going back on that. Briere needs to step in there and have a talk with Tortorella. Tortorella's actions and comments with Frost are embarrassing. |

And on top of this ... Sanheim plays 27 minutes in a normal game (crazy for a non OT game), and Couts, coming back from injury, plays 22 minutes, yet Brink only plays 10 minutes (the same as Hathaway), Zamula plays 12 minutes and Belpedio is in the lineup at all! How does this make any sense? Isn't the idea of a rebuilding team to play the kids in all situations so they can develop? |

Is it too early to start watching Tank-a-thon? I took a look today and the Flyers are 8th, and drafting Jiricek, currently the 3rd highest rated defenseman on the draft board. Looks like a lot of defenseman going in the top 15 this year. |
