The Flyers are not trying to blow this up and to a rebuild from the studs. That's not going to happen here. And to be fair, many teams have tried this approach and failed, Edmonton for example. The Flyers are taking more of the Bruins approach, trying to rebuild while putting a competitive product on the ice, and trading off veteran pieces as younger players are ready to take their place. Right now the Flyers do not have many younger players ready to supplant veteran players, at least in their eyes. I think the Flyers should have traded Laughton this past offseason given he had a career year last year and Couts and Cam were coming back, but alas they didn't and now players are blocked from being in the lineup, like Frost. It's a real problem right now.

It's a manufactured and self inflicted problem that is easily solved.
