There is no way this team will do any damage in the playoffs this year. They have regressed big time. - Hockey_Reverend
Going to need to get into the playoffs. Can we win enough to get in just trying to outscore the other team?! |

Honestly man something. I just don’t get it personally:
1. A new GM 9 times out if 10 hires his own coach.
2. Until Dubas had that media mess up (my opinion) - Shanny was keeping him.
3. I think Shanny runs house.
I would fire Shanny, fire Keefe, keep Tre, and do Nylander. - Big23Questions
Why the hell not..
Keep Nylander, trade Nylander I really don’t care.
I just don’t think they’ll ever win anything until they address the D.

Ok man. I see a goalie fighting the game tonight. And one who has not even come close to playing enough Pro games but to mention let alone NHL games to anoint him an NHL calibre goalie.
Potential absolutely. Has he proven it? Nope.
I know better than to continue with you here bud so this back and forth is done (with you).
Also:
His AHL SV% stats:
- .880 in 32 starts
- .892 in 15 starts
- .907 in 15 starts
- .927 in 21 starts
Except for last season (2.37) his GAA were all above 3.
Math. - Big23Questions
jLooks like a goalie who has been getting better and deserves a chance to prove he is an NHL goalie.

D has been the issue forever. 80's onward. Never have really been strong there at all. |

Last 5 starts
.778
.947
.875
.852
.969
17 goals against 5 starts.
Looks like an inconsistent goalie who is getting a chance only because the other goalie is just as bad. Not yet an NHL goalie nor a proven Pro Level goalie. |

D is AN issue (big one currently), but THE issue has to be that the organization is run by a guy who goes from extend the GM to fire the GM in a few days. Disfunction runs downhill. |

Okay…a few things…
Klingberg sucks, and we need a #1 goalie.
Trade for either Saros or Askarov.
Hire Quenneville. |

Yup. That was an absolutely horrible look. To openly admit that you had zero thoughts on changing GMs until the GM commented that he may not even want to be the GM. Not a good look for this market. |

So hard to get one.
Muzzin was a good player for a couple seasons, but since him I can’t think of one defenceman they acquired that made them a lot better. |

Last year the leafs were actually good defensively as a team. Did they happen to lose the players that helped work defensively or is keefe/the coaching staff changing things? There D is pretty suspect defensively when you've got an aging brodie and giordano plus reilly and now klingberg. Mccabe seems to be worse off this year as well. You'd think they'd have tried to grab some defensively sound younger D in the offseason to help. |

The whole Dubas thing was a gongshow no question. That said we really dont know all of that so... Tre came in under crunchtime which was not ideal. Hasnt really made a lot of moves to make the team his. He went the status quo monitor it and assess route. Its not really working.
This point I think the big change is Keefe. Start looking at moves to shore things up best you can and absolutely fix D and goaltending.
Lost 5 of last 6. Need to do something here and soon. |

Ffs firing tre is not even part of the equation. Just got hired.
Had we kept dubas wed have karlsson on the team and willie most likely gone. Team would be worse.
The core 4 aren't going anywhere.
Easiest option is to fire keefe. This looks like babcocks last days as the leafs coach. I know babs was hated and keefe is liked...but after 5 years he simply may not have the players ears.
Time for a new voice.
Still early though, not even at the 20 game mark. |

If Tre was going to wait and see, he really shouldn't have signed Klingberg to that contract. Could have just gone with the current D without Klingberg and used that extra cap space to upgrade after the assessment.

They got no cap space.
Gotta trade Willy who’s value will never be higher, ever, for the entirety of his career. Leafs need to turn that asset into a cornerstone D man. They have to. There’s no other option. That’s all they can do.

Nope. Other than Gio for bottom pair.
Honestly do not get going full press to get Soucy. Decent 3/4 d man heavy shot. Plays both sides and can hit and skate. Not that expensive either. |

We've already covered this, dubas (frank)ed around and found out.
He made his own bed.
Shanny isnt out there skating around. |
