Marner is every bit as good as Matthews. - Arctic_AARDVARK
One is outright lethal & the other is very good. Both elite but you win cups down the middle & team D. |

I look at VGK in our division & see the last team anyone wants to play against.
Best stars are Stone & Eichel but they all play hard & pressure all over the ice. Hard work wins & scoring only helps not the other way around. There is no doubt Leafs have the firepower & there is every doubt they lack the other. That is on the coaches getting total buy in. VGK has been that since day 1 & it’s no fluke they’ve been a force since day 1.
VGK is a proven model of success. |

Gotta pay your best players.
Caps going way up once Willy gets moved, Marner should get any disposable income they have. Give him the same as Matthews, I’m fine with that. - Arctic_AARDVARK

In Woll I still trust
What we really need is a shutdown center

I can appreciate your I know everything gimmick and the arrogance you're farming it out with, but you frequently display how little you know to the point that it's an odd flex. Isn't it still baseball season?
Have your opinion, it's a great thing. That doesn't make it fact. There's a million opinions on here I'd defer to for confirmation of what's right and wrong well before yours. - joel878
You ok bud?
What nonsense is this now? On your angry high horse again?
The leafs have had concerns long before shanny let go of dubas. Not just my opinion
I actually agreed with your "tree had to do patchwork signings" bit, just added its still too early to call them dead in the water.
I guess you missed that. Surprising.
Moving on. |

……as I’ve been saying for a while, these guys have shown us all they have, and without D, it’s not going to work. We are way thin on D and really shouldn’t expect Woll to carry the team in playoffs, in net. We are 2 decent or 1 really good D away, and possibly a goalie……..away.
There will be a bit of cash available with Brodie and Gio leaving but they need to be replaced……Willie needs raise, Mitch will want to fleece the team in two years, by then Lilly and Knies will need raise, there is just not enough money to go around, AND, keep all these forwards. Let’s be honest here, Ottawa is playing hurt, and we couldn’t beat them. |

Exactly. And Vegas has changed the recipe a few times, they are aggressive, and I respect them for that. |

It’s the definition of core imo.
Not core as in who gets paid but more so core values in how to win & sustain it. Hockey isn’t a soft sport & just show up & dance. Want to win then go to war like you mean it. Don’t see enough heart & soul to go around & that is what separates the contenders from pretenders. Buy in & come to work wins. |

Hampus Lindstrom when a Duck was my want. It rots the B’s got him. D like him are rarely available & gotta pounce & pony up when they are. Not Seth Jones etc. |

Ottawa came out with something to prove, their players seem to be trying to save the coaches job. Cant win them all.
But i agree, players will start costing more money in a few years...however, JT should cost less in a year and a bit. Im thinking about 5m less....well hoping really.
I know i keep repeating this, but its still early, and they have injuries to two key dmen.
Hoping they get it going soon. |

Talent alone won’t do it in this sport. It’s possibly the only sport where, will, can beat talent. You need a balance.

Yep I agree with all that, I just don’t see the cash being there. In my mind we paid these guys too much before they won anything, Like a playoff series, never mind a cup. |

One thing that is kind of unique to hockey in regards to a team sport is that even if you have a superstar, they're on the ice for less than half the game so you need a strong team behind them to be dominant.

Yes on ‘THESE’. We face paying Petey but he’s only 1 contract. Still never a fan of paying huge without the resume to back it up. AM has it & Petey is showing it also still doesn’t sit well with me. |

Im routing for Petey. Got him on my fantasy team as well as Demko. And I managed to be Boeser the night of the first game as a FA when he got a hattie. Those guys have been killing it for my team. |
