I think we're falling into the same tarp. Yet again. Pointing at 4th liners or 6th defenders etc. to change the dynamic of the team. Marchand is 5'9 on a good day and a giant wussy, but he took over from the 6'9 behemoth and then 6'0 'gentleman" and the same team played the same way the entire time. It's not three guys or whatever, it's the culture of the team top to bottom.

Not seeing Reeves get much if any ice in the playoffs TBH.
- Cush29

Oh hell no, he’s a 6-8min type guy tops and only gets sent out for extra time to hunt someone down.

Stop expecting more from the guy. Truth is the core of the leafs won’t stand up for themselves so unfortunately a guy like this is necessary…. And a coach who will use him properly lol.

Wish we had some top players that had some grit as well, that way a guy like Reaves isn’t necessary, but until the core does stand up for themselves a guy like him is.

The culture of the team is set by Matthews, Marner, JT, Nylander and Rielly. They may not play the kind of game some fans like but it’s hard to argue they’re not doing their part right now. So far the pieces that Treliving brought in to supplement these guys have not added much. Four guys are responsible for 30 of the team’s 45 goals. I want the rest of the team to step up. I’m way less concerned about whether they change the culture

Not sure if you are directing the 'stop expecting more from the guy" comment at me or not but I sure as poop don't expect much from him, he's a god dammed 4th line face puncher and supposed 'glue' guy.

Anyone who expected Reeves to come here and magically the team who didn't stand up for each other before him thought they suddenly would was bound to be disappointed.

You are bang on, this core doesn't have that pack mentality - I hope yet is the right next word and the get there.

It's tough to not love the amount of skill in the core but I'd trade some of the skill for more of the grit, snot, grind or whatever you want to call it and if these guys can't get there then time to find someone who can drag them into it.

Reeves isn't that guy, he's not on the ice nearly enough to do so - it needs to be a top 6 guy if it's a F and a top 4 guy if it's on D.

I view him (Reeves) as part of the solution, but not the bigger part of it and definitely not the entire solution by any means.

If they had a guy in the top 6 up front AND/ OR a guy in the top 2 or 4 on the back end brining that jam and mentality + Reeves preaching it for the 89% of the game he is riding the pine THEN they would be in a much better place and maybe we would see what so many of us so desperately want to see from this team.

But they ain't there and ain't that. Let's hope Tre can make some moves and they others who stay can get to that place.

Time will tell I guess but if Tre does make the big move or moves to try and get there the female doging and moaning about what he gives up in youth, draft picks, future talent will be pretty loud everywhere including here and we all know that. lol

If he can’t play, he’ll follow the same trajectory as Simmonds and Clifford and will be gone. If he can play and provide great, he’ll contribute. So far he hasn’t really shown he can play. That’s not on Keefe

Until the guys who are setting the culture manage to get this team on a deep playoff run by doing it the way they have been trying to and not succeeding the calls for a change in the culture are going to continue.

It's validated by the success of teams who have had success with a culture the Leafs haven't had in ages, probably since guys like Tucker, Corson etc. were around and obviously before them the early 90's Leafs.

Right off the hop that comment was just a generic neutral thing I was trying to say lol. It should be just said to the fanbase generically lol

Anyways yeah, I’d like to see some talented grit myself but (frank), maybe put it on the backend, it’s where it’s needed, guys who can skate but play like a bloody bag of nails taking any hit and giving out plenty in the midst of puck movement

To be fair nobody in the bottom six has really played worth a damn. Either the gelling is taking awhile or yes, maybe it is on Keefe

It would be cool if Matthews and crew had their skill and the tenacity of Tucker and Corson, et al. They don’t. Instead they’re just some of the best players I can remember playing for the Leafs.

Unfortunately the attempts to add around them have not gone well either because of a flat cap or poor decisions. Clarkson, Nick Ritchie, Foligno and, so far Bertuzzi haven’t added much. The only guy who seems to have fulfilled his role was ROR.

I don't know about culture, sandpaper, and respect in today's sports. It's a different world and sports world than the one I grew up watching. Every team had an enforcer and that role is largely obsolete now or seems to be. Good teams had that pack mentality. Now it seems to be a rare thing.

Regardless of whether or not it would magically fix this team, being a tough hard-nosed bastard to play against goes a long ways towards building respect with your peers. Marchand should have been jumped by all 5 remaining Leafs on the ice, including the goalie. Marchand should have been barely visible under a dog pile of blue and white jerseys. Instead he skates away with the smug realization that he got away with it and will do it again. Nobody respects that.

Say what you want about the dirty players in Tampa, but you aren't taking liberties with any of them. Ducherov will spear you in the guts. Stamkos will punch your face. Cernak would take your head clean off before the concussions chilled him out. Third and fourth man in on scrums. Obviously it's not the be all end all, or the Bolts would have the threepeat, but Colorado wasn't buying it.

I guess what I am getting at in my long-winded, Lightning-centric way is : it won't magically fix the Leafs' issues to have a pack mentality, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

57.5% of the cap locked up into 5 players may not be a great strategy. 🤷

How many times do I have to tell you?

Many, obviously due to your room temperature IQ…

It wasn’t the bans. It was the deleted posts from myself and others that called out and absolutely destroyed you two wannabe tyrants.
Then you’d go on to ban and roast said posters with impunity. So gutless and greasy. The two biggest cowards to ever darken these boards.

You had the most authority that you will be ever granted in your entire life.

You showed your true colours. Had a hissy fit about Turd and quit.

You failed at being a chat room moderator.

I can stop trolling a hockey team anytime.

You obviously can’t stop being a hated (frank)ing Dullard who is barely literate.

Cry more (frank)tard. Nevermind the fact you are confusing Aron and I. lol

You yet again show your inability to even get simple facts correct.

Failed at a free moderating gig, lol

Sure that’s how it went down, it definitely wasn’t being tired of dealing with morons like you. 🙄

Thanks for confirming I made the right choice.
