Foerster was just an example because he did not require waivers. I agree I want Foerster playing at the NHL level.

GMDB could drop a nuke and waive ND.

In the end, all three heads are fine with Frost sitting seemingly. I am just pointing out that GMDB could get it done if he really wanted to. Even if he was being overridden by Torts and Jones he still could get it done.

Two things, it's not at all clear to me that all three heads are fine with Frost sitting. I also don't think it's clear that Briere could make a player move independent of approval from Jones and Tortorella. What would he do, do it secretly without informing them?

That's fantasy. There are already reports from legitimate sources such as Eliotte Freidman that other teams have already contacted the Flyers about Frost. Nice try.
- MJL

Yes, but you didn't read the entire story. They were just asking Briere if Frost would be available to valet their cars since he can't get into the lineup of a bottom 10 team in the league.

Yes, we are all just a "basket of deplorables" it seems.

BTW, every day we see York and Sanhiem play it further supports my accurate claim that Risto was and is the Flyers BEST defenseman!

- jd250

Hysterical. Sanheim is having a very strong season. Your claim was never accurate and you still don't understand what anecdotal is.

In terms of actually signing off on a trade I am sure Torts does not have veto power. It is a courtesy that he is allowed a say. He is not higher than GMDB in the structure of the org.

I am sure someone has to sign off on the money aspect of moves. Not sure GMDB needs actual approval other than that though. He is the GM.

GMDB is either ok with Frost sitting or he is scared to speak up/confront Torts. Either option is not a good look for the Flyers GM.

Kind of a similar situation just played out with Addison, albeit different players and teams in different stages but a young, talented player who keeps getting benched. Wouldn't shock me if a team tries to buy low on Frost and Briere, realizing he's been outvoted by 2/3 of the vaunted triumvirate, pulls the trigger.

The Flyers are exactly the team who should be buying low on these types of players. Addison had 18 power play points last year, maybe he'd help this historically bad PP! Instead, they're committed to playing older, gritty veterans to be 'hard to play against' and teach the young guys the 'right way to play'.

- TobyFlenderson

I’m disappointed that the Wild gave up on Addison. The Wild should be rebuilding but the owner won’t allow that. So Guerin has to basically trade Addison for Bogosian. It’s a trade for right now so the Wild can get heavier and grittier today. It’s a lack of vision.

The Wild wanted Addison to be Spurgeon. That’s unrealistic, at least in the short term. What is the Flyers expectation for Frost? G? That would be just as unrealistic.

Sanheims game early on was very good…the last two games he’s been bad, along with 10 other guys. Ya know when you’re arguing who’s the teams best d man and that’s the choice there are issues. My biggest concern back there is York who has not had a very good start despite be given tons of ice in all situations.

Bundy says it perfectly about Frost ... worth a listen. Anthony San Filippo believes Briere is NOT a fan of Frost either so its not Torts and Jones against Briere.

I don't think you're clear on what the structure actually is. It is a triumvirate. It is not a setup where the GM has say over the coach. That was made clear by Hilferty on how it is going to be a corroboration between the three. It's becoming obvious that Tortorella has manipulated the situation to seize power. There is not the traditional hierarchy of POHO-GM-coach on this team.

Sanheim is not good, not offensively, not defensively. He would be fine in the 2nd pairing but playing 20+ minutes a night is disastrous. York has been a big disappointment so far this season, I don't know what is going on with this guy.

It’s fine playing Sanheim 20+ a game. If your name is not Hedman, Makar, McAvoy etc. playing 25-30 minutes isn’t optimal.

Sanheim playing 20+ minutes is fine on a bad team, but if Sanheim is still here in a few years and we ever hope this team will be a successful team, Sanheim has got to play a much more limited role.

That’s also an unrealistic expectation. He’d be getting a lot of pushback from Conagra.

Or maybe other teams feel the same way about Frost that Torts, myself, and apparently hoards of other Flyer fans out there do, and there was not trade value for Frost.
- jd250

if you think a player in his first full year who put up 40+ points would not draw the interest of at least 1 team then you are a fool.

I think my position on Frost has been made crystal clear. I vehemently disagree with the Flyers about their handling of him. Long-term, I think it's clear that the coach and the POHO do not value the player. Such is how it goes sometimes in hockey. Not my decision to make.

as was evident during his braodcasts last year. he rarely provided positive commentary on Frost but would praise Delauries for tying his skates. He gaslit the fans and its why Im dubious about his hire

So crazy TBH. We’re not in a position to be throwing away solid young prospects before we know exactly what they are. He needs to play and play a lot imo. If after a couple years you’re sure he’s can’t be a player, then trade him but wow. Further, the team is devoid of playmaking skill, and you want to send him packing. I just can’t. We can’t have a squad of all shoot first players and muckers ffs

Your first statement is completely false. Sanheim is showing again this season that he is a solid 2 way NHL defenseman. The elements of his game that were missing last season, to this point of the season have returned. Which is aggressiveness in all 3 zones. All last year you claimed that Sanheim was not good defensively. When he was the top defender on the team. You say he is not good offensively but yet he is a top ten scoring defensman in the NHL currently. 5th in the league in assists among all NHL defenseman. Sanheim is absolutely a 20 minute a game defenseman in this league. The issue is the Flyers don't have a legitimate top defense pairing but that is not on Sanheim.

Sanheim is fully capable of playing a top 3 defensive role on a quality team.

The thought that this franchise could turn a corner and move into the modern day NHL is quickly slipping away. This franchise will never become a legitimate Cup contender as long as Tortorella is involved. His influence is becoming stronger and stronger.

Why did Briere give him 2 x $2.1m then? That's a lot of money to spend on a 13th forward.
