Sanheim is not good, not offensively, not defensively. He would be fine in the 2nd pairing but playing 20+ minutes a night is disastrous. York has been a big disappointment so far this season, I don't know what is going on with this guy. - jd250
Sanheim is tied for 6th overall in scoring by defensemen this season.

Sanheim is fully capable of playing a top 3 defensive role on a quality team. - MJL
Yes, he did that in 19-20 when the Flyers were 6th overall, and had the 7th best GA/GP.
This season the team is struggling defensively, not because of Sanheim, but because these are the #2 thru #6 dmen.

was giving him term on his deal a mistake? - hello it's me 2050
No, the mistake was trying to trade him for 32 year old Torey Krug who has one point all season playing as the #4 in St Louis.
Just imagine him partnering Cam York all the way to 2027. |

That's a defensive corp, coupled with the coaching, that will guarantee the Flyers suck no matter what the forwards/goalies do.

he currently is earning his contract, and is age appropriate for the term of the deal. I would prefer staying away from 8 year deals but...

The thought that this franchise could turn a corner and move into the modern day NHL is quickly slipping away. This franchise will never become a legitimate Cup contender as long as Tortorella is involved. His influence is becoming stronger and stronger. - MJL

Brink has been invisible, but with 10 minutes of TOI what can you do, well more than ZERO TOI. |

Sanheim playing 20+ minutes is fine on a bad team, but if Sanheim is still here in a few years and we ever hope this team will be a successful team, Sanheim has got to play a much more limited role. - jd250
I have no doubt in my mind he will be.
But not to rag, think about it. If Sanheim is as bad as you think he is, are other teams going to want him in a trade with that amount of term? |

Why did Briere give him 2 x $2.1m then? That's a lot of money to spend on a 13th forward. - Feanor
How many teams have a 13th forward who led their team in scoring over a 5 month period and led the team for the entire season in ES scoring? The Flyers must really have a stacked lineup

Doesn’t open for me. But it’s Michkov, right? Torts can’t wait to turn him into the next Kenny Linseman. - Minnyhock
it is, Torts wont do well with a top pick and one that has a rep of clapping back. |

But didn’t Torts say he likes when a player challenges him? Michkov may call his bluff.

Two things, it's not at all clear to me that all three heads are fine with Frost sitting. I also don't think it's clear that Briere could make a player move independent of approval from Jones and Tortorella. What would he do, do it secretly without informing them? - MJL
It’s pretty murky. They call it collaboration but are they trying to expand that to mean consensus?

Here in Anaheim for Flyers practice, Ryan Poehling wearing purple, we'll see if that means he's out of the regular line rushes once practice begins. |

Frost should go punch him in the face, should get him back in the lineup. I still have a little patience that Torts can change, but right now, think the challenge thing only goes for players he likes.
