The post I was responding to was about the rookies, not just one.

Also 80 NHL games is different than Juniors.

Nobody knows for sure....could say the same about Perry who has played in playoff runs the past X number of years.

Each their own....

I don't think he is the best, but there is just something about Kaiser that appeals to me. It might be his compete level or feistiness. He makes some poor decisions now and then, but I think he is coachable and smart enough to learn from them. His battle in front of the net on the PK was pretty cool to watch.

- -Doh-

Kaiser is just a blast to watch play hockey. To me the epitome of the sport. A Gamer.

Not that anyone would remember but maybe a few shifts into his first game as a Hawk last yr I posted Kaiser is My Guy and repeated that to start this yr. Like you I loved the kid's compete/feistiness. In damn near every shift he's pokin, jabbin, reachin, elbowin, leveregin, slew footin, can openerin, tyin sticks up, liftin sticks, wallin people off, stick in a lane, impedin, spearin, feet movin all in a 3 second sequence!! And he does all this on instinct/reads, does it without thought, shows no fear and does it immediately......

Think about KK, Vlasic and Kaiser. Which one can you see thinking, which one looks decisive, which one is playing on pure instinct? ...... IMO Vlasic looks like a real shutdown guy, KK the highest ceiling but Kaiser is the most Hammer like (way too early to say anything definitively) that plays on pure instinct. A Gamer like Hammer who would have a crazy in zone shift ended by blocking a shot off his foot, literally crawling thru the bench door and he's out there next shift!!!

Yea man, Kaiser is very appealing to watch. My eyes always seem to be drawn to him when he's on the ice cuz it's damn fun to watch.

Has anybody heard anything about the three injuries from last night's game?
- bjphawkfan

Saw a post game video with Hall giving Bedard a big puck -seemed moving ok- I suspect that it was an MCL strain -shouldn't be a big deal - might miss next game (my guess -not from the team) - but if it is that - might even be able to play - it ends up being about pain tolerance - as that thing is effectively a hyper-extension of the knee. Different than Sam Savoie's situation.

LBR over at Second City suggested that part of the reason for this last night was that he was matched up against the Cirelli line.

This is his sophomore campaign, so regression is to be expected. And it's usually the worst time to trade a slumping prospect. Let's see how he does when they play easier opposition.

- 333inthe3rd

The Cirelli line has been Cooper's shut down line that's won 2 cups and has been on a helluva 4-5 yr run. Cirelli is a top 3ish shutdown centerman in the sport.

Going into this tilt thought it might be kinda ugly vs a Cooper led squad that will strangle you with structure. That structure gives even cup champs fits sometimes so it was easy to see an 18 yr old Bedard and 3 rookie Dmen having a rough go.

First 10 minutes it sure was ugly as the Bolts simply dominated/mutilated/destroyed then IMO for the first time we saw what makes what many think Bedard is generational. We've seen this at the jr level a bunch but he showed it at the NHL level last night.

Fighting thru 245lb Hedman's tying up his stick on the 1st goal, Johanson being late to get across on the 2 on 1 beauty backhand feed from Bedard cuz he had to respect Bedard's shot on the Johnson goal, getting a backhander off at pace on the feed from Foligno into Johansson's 5 hole area followed by the Dman running into his goalie and knocking it in, the PP goal where Bedard reads/sees Perry far post and zips it thru 2 sticks and a set of legs for the Perry backside tip in.

And we didn't mention what I think is is greatest asset, his shot, or all the nuances away from the puck that put him in position to make any of those plays. One sequence on it's own shows a very good player but all the things he showed in ONE game vs a Cooper structured team showed us for the first time ever at the NHL level what every damn writer has been saying for 3-4-5 yrs, Bedard is generational.

Time will tell but the kid showed us last night the sky is the limit.

Just a thought. I might be of the minority, but I would love to see a young, up and coming forward be picked up by KFC to play with C. Bedard. I don't care if it puts us closer to a playoff spot or not. We've got plenty of draft picks he could use as trade bait and snag a linemate that Bedard could "grow up with". Obviously, it's not easy to get, but maybe entice a cash strapped team??? IDK. I know KFC is building a team slowly, but if the opportunity presents itself, why not snag a younger guy that Bedard could build chemistry with? Just my 2 cents. Thoughts?

Yo LA, watching the PHI @ ANA clash, heard a stat that made me think of you.... PHI ranks 3rd in expected goals in the whole NHL in the 1st yr of their rebuild. .... Any thoughts on the Brierre rebuild in Philly?

Edit......Byfield is becoming a beast. Much more mature and poised with and without the puck. Looks to become a possession monster.

If KD would be able to get a youngish top 6 type I'd rather see him slot with Reichel than Bedard. Hall is a better player than Hawk fans think he is IMO and Bedard skates with him.

Rather see two pairs of legit top 6 forwards on the top 2 lines than 3 on L1. ..... Anyway, if Bedard keeps progressing (figuring it out) like he seems to be by Game 50 he'll make Reese Johnson a pt per game guy.

Laz had some info I wasn't aware of in his piece after the TB game about Bedard. Indeed, talks about his tenacity during the game. https://theathletic.com/5...ckhawks-lightning-points/

During the three-day break between games, Richardson challenged Bedard to be more aggressive on the forecheck and get pucks himself, rather than simply wait for teammates to tee him up. Bedard took the message to heart. He was puck-hunting all night. That wasn’t just anybody he beat to the boards on the forecheck, then to the net for the return pass from Kurashev; it was Hedman. That wasn’t just anybody he chipped the puck away from for the give-and-go with Foligno; it was Kucherov. Two of the best players in the world, out-hustled and outworked by someone who might someday soon join them at that level. This was all-world stuff, lean-forward-in-your-seat stuff.

Bedard’s breakout game felt inevitable, but it was momentous all the same. A statement. A promise fulfilled, and a promise of more.

I liked Joey Anderson since he joined the Hawks. He is playing well at the Rock. I would like to see him promoted. Anderson, D!ckinson, and then one of Donato, Entwistle, Katchouk, AA, might be a pretty good energy 3rd or 4th line.

I agree. To assess Reichel you need to give him some decent linemates. And give that line 10 to 25 games to gel.

I’m with you Rico, as obviously Bedard can carry a line and Reichel can’t, at least not currently. I too would like to see them get a good young forward to play with Reichel, but I’d be careful on what is given up. Maybe take on a short term bad contract as part of the package. I’m a Holloway fan, maybe the Oilers are that team.

Prospect report gleened from various sources.

Ludwinski with 3 assists for Kingston last night in their 5-3 win. He was named the game's 2nd star. 7G and 10A in 14 games this season.

Hayes held scoreless lat night for Flint, but has 17 points in the previous12 games. 10G and 7A. Flint plays Erie (Misiak) tonight.

Speaking of Misiak, he's also off to a good start this season. 9G and 9A through 17 games.

Nazar with 1 goal last night in Michigan's 4-3 loss to Minnesota. Moore held scoreless. These teams play against each other tonight , too. For the season, Nazar 5G and 6A in 11 games. Moore with 2G and 5A in 9 games.

Slaggert with another goal last night. 8G and zero A for the season.

I would expect Ludwinski and Hayes to come out of the juniors next season. Maybe spend a year in Rockford. Maybe Nazar comes out of Michigan and is signed. Ditto Slaggert out of ND. I see Moore with another year at Minnesota.

Lardis and Green, who I didn't mention above, probably two years away with Kantserov waiting in the wings.

A couple of these guys could be decent line mates for Bedard in 2 years.

Yup
I've watched it 50 times, totally nuts if you ask me.
That should have been a highlight on every sports channel not only in Chicago but all of the US and Canada. But people were probably busy watching the poop show that is the bears.

Bedard should have been rewarded a secondary assist on on his goal

Big Holloway fan. Young power forward has some skill. ........ Not sure on the timing of when to add but if a Holloway type is available you gotta make the call and see what an EDM is looking for.

I watched the TB feed and don't remember them showing this replay. I did see Bedard kinda swing his stick as it happened before the 2 on 1 but didn't know what it resulted in. This replay shows that........ World class!!

Looks like 98 knew Foligno was behind him there. As soon as he flicked the puck away from Kucherov, Bedard looked back at Foligno while turning toward the O zone. Impressive play that I didn't originally catch either. It's amazing how this guy can think, perform and react so fast.

It was a beauty of a play, that's what happens when you have Vosters and Chelios in the booth, Vosters thought Kurashev tipped that first goal in, what a joke.

You know Enzo would of seen it and showed the replay.
