do you have a specific player in mine?
- Scott1977

No, not anybody really specific. Just was thinking someone around his age that can grow with him. Kind of like Toews and Kane. I guess the real question would be finding a trade partner willing to part with an up and comer...for the right price.

See my post about prospects on the previous page. Could be a lot of home grown talent available in a couple of years to play with him. Just have to wait it out. It won't hinder Bedard's development.

lines at practice:
Foligno-Bedard-Kurashev
Reichel-Richardinson-Raddysh
T. Johnson-Donato-Perry
Katchouk-Entwistle-R. Johnson

Injured: Athanasiou, Hall

Still don't like Foligno and Kurashev on a line with Bedard. Really wouldn't mind seeing Reichel up there with him

Why did Phillips repprtedly look lost out on ice in his only appeaeance this year. Was he playing off side or confounded by his defense mate? Was Phillips uncertain his placement/responsibility in the defenseman role

Whatever

I bet he is better and gets a chance rotating in out of lineup with Zaitsev

Phillips needs to make good decisions, perform consistent and a steady physical effort to play the body/finish checks are the items holding him back

Phillips is a good skater, strong, has a good slapshot.Needs to take that next step. Other prospects in Rockford are going to supplant him in the pecking order by end of season should Phillips development stalls

Sure would welcome a report on T Harding potential as an update as he is in his third collegiate season

I think a lot hinges on if the player meets the standards that KD is looking for in a player and getting them at the right price

With that being said, i know nothing of Pinto but he might be someone that can be traded for at the right price, with some salary dumped our way.

Depth chart if Pinto was acquired/foresseing the future:

Bedard
Pinto
Moore
Greene

Ludwinski

Reichel to wing
Is Nazar, Moore wind up on wing?

Not a big fan of the notion to acquire Pinto. Would he cost us a future #2 plus a prospect? Perhaps too much for Pinto. He provides legitimate offensive center while some kids eventyally settle in as L3 and L4 centers

I think it would be better for someone a bit more skilled to be up there with him,and I know the Hawks don't have too many skilled players right now,and I know Hall is out,but having Reichel or Hall on the line with him would be a better fit....at least I think it would be a better fit

Hall really isn't that good, so far I'm not impressed. I can see why he's bounced around the league. Definitely see why he was on Bostons 3rd line.

I agree, but compared to everyone else on the roster,he seems like a good fit to play with Bedard.
I'd be happy if Davidson traded for someone that has a bit more skill, but as much as I and a few others think that would be a good idea,it doesn't look like it is going to happen

We have to remember the roster is not set up to win this yr. They want to properly develop as many as the prospects as they can in the bigs, get NHL ice time for callups from RKF, establish a positive culture, be competitive and draft in the top 5.

They're only in yr 1 from the total teardown. .......

With Pinto’s off ice issues, I don’t think KD will inquire about his availability, although he wouldn’t be a bad pickup.

It isn't that Hall isn't that good, he did win a Hart Trophy once. What you are seeing is the effects of 14 seasons in the NHL and what that does to a player physically and the resulting injuries. He has always been a very skilled forward, capable of playing on an NHL 1st line, but the wear and tear isn't being kind to his body.

Look around the league at formerly stars that have been played for as long as Hall - Landeskog, Nik Backstrom, Shea Weber, Patrick Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Carey Price, Tyler Seguin none of them are/were what they used to be - the physical toll playing in the NHL is massive.

Meanwhile Hall has a job to do with the Hawks and he's trying. They don't have anybody better right now or that player would be in their lineup.

That guy Foligno is definitely holding his own with Bedard so far.

For sure, for a 36 year old geezer Foligno is doing a great job out there. Playing with Bedard he probably feels like he's 26 and telling everybody #98 is his kid brother.

Rico, If you're out there, this one is for you.

A quote from Murphy from a Powers article about Perry's leadership.

"The things that he says hold weight,” Murphy said. “He’s not just going to throw cliché terms and words out there. When he speaks about the game, it’s stuff that holds volume and playing the game the right way.”

Hall is certainly not new to anyone but now that he's a Hawk I follow him much more closely. Was struck quickly at just how mature, poised and slick his game is. ..... As you mention Hall has loads of back class to go along with a lotta miles on him.

I'm sure KD could have done better than Hall if he were looking for just points outa him but Hall, IMO, is an absolute perfect fit to be Bedard's runnin mate in his rookie season..... He still can play, and at pace, to give Bedard a legit talent on his line along with the savvy, poised, mature play with loads of back class to smooth out a lotta bumps for the kid. Say a Fialla type who would probably outscore Hall can't bring any of the intangibles Hall can on and off the ice.

Not sure off the top of my head who I would have taken from outside the organIzation to skate with Bedard his rookie season over Hall.

Perry reminds me of Carlton Fisk in that they both feel you gotta respect the sport and if you don't it's a problem. You're obligated to play the sport in a no shortcuts manner.

Another really nice guy to have for the 1st yr coming outa the teardown yr.......

I'm thru 2 periods of U of MN @ U of MI, MI up 2-1...... Nazar just made it 2-1 on the PP with a wrister thru traffic. Moore not noticeable thru 2, Rinzel has been interesting. 95% sure he's runnin the 1st PP unit, not sure what pairing he's on but his role has increased since last yr and the kid seems ready for it. Not saying Rinzel has taken any big jumps but he's starting to look like the part of a possible useful player.

Mrazek & Soderblum rank 18th & 22nd in GSAA/60 at .473 & .374 respectively. 9 goalies are worth a goal or better per 60, led by Varlamov (NYI) at 1.850.

In all of hockey there are only 30 players in the Triple Gold Club and Perry is one of them. So he knows something about winning.

Have there been any fights with the Hawks this year? Can we confirm Vandermeeer23 is now watching cock fighting instead of hockey?

Anyway, I've mostly enjoyed the season. There is some young talent here that needs to grow. Add some pieces here or there it could be fun. It's gonna take time.
