Drove the three hours down for tomorrow’s game, can’t wait to see the phenom live. Actually looking forward to seeing all the young dudes, and hoping for a good game.

Why isn't McDavid scoring getting nary a few points this season?

It cannot be the defensive system is new and not working.....McDavid is so fast and so good he cannot be stopped....unttil early going this new season

Have there been any fights with the Hawks this year? Can we confirm Vandermeeer23 is now watching cock fighting instead of hockey?

Anyway, I've mostly enjoyed the season. There is some young talent here that needs to grow. Add some pieces here or there it could be fun. It's gonna take time.

Foligno bloodied that guy (O’Brien?) on the Yotes I believe.

Anyone who is interested to WATCH and or LISTEN to a doubleheader of Blackhawks hockey today, get your fix with the NHL game at noon and the AHL tilt at 3pm.

Blackhawks on ESPN+ (plus) they can be streamed or listen for free on wgnradio app

Wolves and Icehogs can be found on theAHL.com or RockfordIcehogs.com. I believe that the Wolves still present only a television broadcast of games as they have for many years; Billy Gardner this Shaver guy have done the color on the broadcast for 16 years. Wolves on free channel 50 in Chicagoland which is WFLD for limited # of games or Comcast through AT&T Uverse or DirectTV

Idk about that. I think a lot depends on the player. I certainly don't think it damaged him and when he did come up in his second stint, he definitely proved he belonged.

I do think it's hilarious people are wanting to trade him a dozen games into a season that means nothing in terms of wins and losses and everything about his and the other Yutes development.

- HawkintheD

The expectations are just not in line with what is typical in the NHL.

Time in the AHL is irrelevant. It still takes players typically 2 full NHL seasons before you start to see them hit their potential. Jack Hughes is a good example of that. Patrick Sharp was a season and a half before he hit 20 and two and a half before he was really solidified as a top 6 player.

If we go with the Teuvo comparison - he didn't start producing at a higher rate until his third full year.

Anyway - it's year one for him for all intents and purposes. It's probably not gonna be the best. Next year may not be hugely better but by the year after that he should start to hit a better level of consistency.

Yep. Always started slow and like your Sharp comment, another reason not to trade a 21 yo in his first full season.
- HawkintheD

He's gotta show something but on the other hand if someone was like hey we have a 25 year old who probably isn't gonna resign and is an established top 6 player then you probably think about that deal.

I certainly wouldn't trade him for futures at this point but as part of a package for like a Nylander if they can negotiate an extension before hand - absolutely you trade him.

so far game is only on NHL NET.....not listed in upcoming ESPN+ events for today. NHL NET has a real stranglehold on the kid's games, if they show it no one else does. keeping fingers crossed it pops up somewhere..

I don't know if that's in the rebuild playbook right now. May be a bit early. The one question i keep thinking about is, does Nylander fit the type of player KD is looking for? Personally i don't think so.

At the moment, Reichel is worth more to the Hawks than another team. Looking forward to focusing on some players today, including Reichel, hard to do that watching on tv.

Laz had some info I wasn't aware of in his piece after the TB game about Bedard. Indeed, talks about his tenacity during the game. https://theathletic.com/5...ckhawks-lightning-points/

During the three-day break between games, Richardson challenged Bedard to be more aggressive on the forecheck and get pucks himself, rather than simply wait for teammates to tee him up. Bedard took the message to heart. He was puck-hunting all night. That wasn’t just anybody he beat to the boards on the forecheck, then to the net for the return pass from Kurashev; it was Hedman. That wasn’t just anybody he chipped the puck away from for the give-and-go with Foligno; it was Kucherov. Two of the best players in the world, out-hustled and outworked by someone who might someday soon join them at that level. This was all-world stuff, lean-forward-in-your-seat stuff.

Bedard’s breakout game felt inevitable, but it was momentous all the same. A statement. A promise fulfilled, and a promise of more.

He's going to be the best player in the league in short order. And he's just fun to watch.

Too bad the NHL is garbage at

1. Protecting star players
2. Marketing star players and the game in general
3. Letting any of these guys have any personality at all.
