Solid win. Missed the game but looks like Tippett played well. Frost with a point! He’s got to stay in now. Kings will maul us today

Cue the Tip and Frost only score against bad teams... 😉

Sanheim is not good, not offensively, not defensively. He would be fine in the 2nd pairing but playing 20+ minutes a night is disastrous.
- jd250

Sanheim is 4th in the league in D scoring, and 4th in TOI/GP, while Risto is quarantined on Ellis Island with a mystery injury. Sucks to be you.

I’m not that old so don’t really recall a time when the leagues were neck and neck. I imagine the takeoff or nail in the coffin for the NBA was Michael Jordan?

Hockey is a niche sport from Canada that is very expensive to play. It was never going to be as popular in the US as the American sport of basketball where all you need is a hoop and a ball.

His player evaluations are spot on! Especially for defenseman. Sanheim is not good offensively or defensively. Ristolainen is the Flyers best defenseman and one of the best in the league. The cherry on top, Charlie MAcAvoy is not an elite defenseman.

Hockey you only really need an old stick and a ball.

And ironically basketball was created by a Canadian.

IMHO... there was a point in time (late-80's, early-90's) when hockey could have really blown up. But that tragically coincided with the rise of the dead puck era, trap, clutch n grab, and general goonery. The games became a slog to watch. If the league had stepped in and made the rule changes a decade earlier, and didn't do the OLN thing, and didn't lock the players out repeatedly, I really believe the NHL would be much closer to the NBA today, despite it being Canadian and kinda expensive to play on ice.

So he had a good game last night and finally finished on a scoring chance, good for him. Let's see if he can actually do this consistently moving forward. I still think Sanheim needs to play less minutes and needs to be completely off the power play. I really liked Walker in that role last night, and I think York needs to get his head out of his butt and QB that 2nd PP unit. In the meantime, does anyone know what the problem with Risto is? Did he catch Ellis disease or something?

You reap what you sow. You started with "well you tried". That's when the kids gloves come off and I show you how uninformed you are. On pretty much everything. Someone who routinely childishly puts down others for enjoying other sports and other sports teams has no standing to judge anyone on anything. You don't like the NFL so it's a bad product. There is no such thing as an adult conversation with you. You would have to act like an adult to have that. You're welcome.

oh schitt. The kid gloves are off. Very intimidating. Cliff means business.

Your opening comment shows your bias and how uninformed you are. Sanheim has been playing at a high level the entire season. Walker does not have a future with the team. At least he shouldn't have one. Sanheim should be kept on the PP, so he can get reps and experience at it. It can only make him more valuable as a player.

I showed you the numbers for McAvoy, you just don't want to admit you are wrong. But just in case you had your eyes closed, who was the Bruins best defenseman last year?

McAvoy 2022-23 67gms 7g 45a 52pts +29 22:18mins
Lindholm 2022-2023 80gms 10g 43a 53pts +49 23:11mins

More games, more minutes, more points and a much, much better +/-. I think the answer is crystal clear, don't you? An elite defenseman who isn't even the best defenseman on his own team

See that is where you are completely wrong. If Walker keeps playing like this he absolutely could have a future on this team. I expect Walker to fetch a nice return at the deadline this year, however I would be very open to the Flyers signing him in the off-season. A RHS defenseman that that still has plenty of thread on the tires, is very good at both ends of the ice, and can QB the power play. I would definitely be interested in resigning him. Look I will give Sanheim credit, he is playing way above his level of the past few seasons, but he has no business on the PP nor should he playing Doughty minutes.

imo it was never going to blow up. Has always been secondary so to speak. Just not popular overall. Cost def is a factor then and now. Accessibility then wasn't near what it was today that also factors in. Also hockey was/is not a huge betting sport. That is also a factor.

also that goonery sells. Most non fans think of fighting before a player. At least was that way

Was going to ask who 91 is last night, woke up to the Hat trick. Curious to see how their approach with the kid sitting games works out

Is this fact or opinion? They very well may re-sign him. Also why are you against say a 3 year ext? Do they have anyone n the pipe line ready to take over his spot?

Also he didn't say Sanheim hasnt been playing at a high level. He said he finally finished a scoring chance. Please leave the kid gloves on.

The plan of sitting him every 2nd or third game has gone by the waste side of late…he’s been in the lineup the last 7. He looked awfully good last night for an 18 yr old. I was surprised when he went over Fantilli but regardless the Ducks look like they got a good one. I’m sure they’ll still be careful with him game wise as he is used to playing about half that many games, but it’s a learning curve he’s winning so far.

Made a few nice plays in the 3rd period….I thought. Hopefully Torts gives him some runway here and lets him have some time to get the rust off. Definitely adds to the speed and creativity for the lineup.

He was solid, few scoring chances and made some plays. For someone who has been often scratched his confidence is still there which is a good sign. I only watched the first two periods

Pretty much the same, makes a flashy play from time to time, takes a dumb penalty and is the first one to congratulate Tippet when single handedly scores a goal.

.

You're just giving more ammo against yourself. Even after it has been explained to you, you still don't get it. So looking at those points, lets do some simple math. With McAvoy, 52 points in 67 games is .77 points per game. With Lindholm, 53 points 80 games is .66 points per game.

You have your eyes closed permanently. Explain to me, how any of that shows that McAvoy is not an elite defenseman in the NHL? Lindholm had an outstanding season last year. No doubt. How does that change that McAvoy is universally considered a top 10 NHL defensman, including two top 5 finishes in Norris trophy voting?

Now for some resource material for you to study.

I guess I have explain to you what is meant by having a future with the team. That means that he is a player that would be considered part of the rebuild moving forward. Part of the team's long term vision. Walker is not that player. Sanheim belongs playing on the PP over Walker.
