I think Meatball had an unhappy off season, early in training camp he shrugged his shoulders and said, "its the same team as last season."
I think not making the playoff's in the fashion they did left him with a hunger to adjust from development to winning, resulting in the product we witness now.
Adams won't budge, we all know this. Meatball is paid for years now so he doesn't care, he will play the vets because he thinks that gives him his best chance.

Throwup Krebs Throwup unfortunately those 1yr deals that don't hurt are hurting having to play the Throwup Twins.
Can’t keep missing the playoffs if you never make the playoffs

They sucked ya back in with the 1pt thing, and then it's Same Sh!t Different Day Affect the next Season. It's like Terry cuts there Balls off at Hiring and everyone's afraid to make a aggressive Decision.
Okposo, 35, has been a major part of the Sabres’ turnaround over the last few seasons. And that wasn’t always a guarantee. At one point during his career with the New York Islanders, Okposo suffered a detached retina that could have ended his career. When he signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Sabres in 2016, he didn’t envision going through multiple rebuilds with the team. In 2017, he also suffered a scary concussion that caused psychological effects that landed him in the intensive care unit. That wasn’t his last concussion, either.
So getting to 1,000 games with this group of players was difficult for Okposo to imagine.
“It’s special because I know where we’ve been and I know where we are now,” Okposo said. “And that’s something I’m the most proud of, is what we have in that room and what they’re going to continue to in that room for hopefully a long time is something that is tangible. And I don’t know how many wins come from that, how that translates on the ice, but I know that it does. And I can see it in the way they treat each other, how they treat everybody else, how respectful of a group they are. But how much they care about each other, that means the world to me. To be playing with those guys, it’s a ton of fun.”

You're line up is not wrong, it's the hand the Sabres are dealt. I can't come up with a better one. - washedup20
If the coach is what he's supposed to be, he'll ice a lineup similar to what I posted, stop leaning on bums with substandard performance, and coach up the kids.

Yes, I need a hug. I knew we weren't contenders, but didn't think we were picking top10 again either. - QuinnFan
July 10th came along and I thought to myself this could go 2 ways. And unfortunately it's going the way I thought. Can't hope that 6 guys will have Career years again.

Tbh, I thought guys like Krebs, Peterka, Quinn and Power would take the next step to cover that. Two of four are true, one crapped out here but is coming back on and the other lost a foot. Sad to say, but I do think losing Quinn affected the win/loss column already.

I agree with Quinn, but funny Adams knew that before July 10th. And still brought back the same Bozos
