The NHL should go full NBA and have an in season something or other. Anything that would give us a 5-7 game series between EDM and BUF to determine who the absolute worst franchise in the league is. It should be ARI by a landslide and yet, here we are. |

I agree with Quinn, but funny Adams knew that before July 10th. And still brought back the same Bozos - Buff36
Agreed, we got a runback of Okposo and Girgs instead...really bad.
I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a move yet. If they miss out on Kane, I'll expect KA to move one of the former 1st rounders post haste to bring in some help. |

Was talking about this with a friend yesterday. I would love a smaller tournament to start the year instead of preseason. He thought it should be extra, but the battle on number of games played would then ensue. If we take away preseason and start with a round robin tourney of some sort, it could inject some freshness into our game. |

Okposo, 35, has been a major part of the Sabres’ turnaround over the last few seasons. And that wasn’t always a guarantee. At one point during his career with the New York Islanders, Okposo suffered a detached retina that could have ended his career. When he signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Sabres in 2016, he didn’t envision going through multiple rebuilds with the team. In 2017, he also suffered a scary concussion that caused psychological effects that landed him in the intensive care unit. That wasn’t his last concussion, either.
So getting to 1,000 games with this group of players was difficult for Okposo to imagine.
“It’s special because I know where we’ve been and I know where we are now,” Okposo said. “And that’s something I’m the most proud of, is what we have in that room and what they’re going to continue to in that room for hopefully a long time is something that is tangible. And I don’t know how many wins come from that, how that translates on the ice, but I know that it does. And I can see it in the way they treat each other, how they treat everybody else, how respectful of a group they are. But how much they care about each other, that means the world to me. To be playing with those guys, it’s a ton of fun.”
The leader adored by all's plan in a nut shell.

It's surreal to see how stupid this entire plan was. - washedup20

They are legitimately in the same spot in the standings as a few years ago. What is this massive turn around being spoken about? |

Why does it need to be extra, when the NBA is doing it within the confines of its regular season schedule? |

Expecting Adams to make a trade is setting yourself up for disappointment.

The front office lied, the coach lied, the leaders lied, the journalists nodded and wrote what they were told. Anyone with the slightest capacity for brain power could see it. You have to be a complete fool to have bought into the garbage they tried to sell. |

The New York Times has just unveiled their fancy NFL Playoff Picture Calculator.
The Bills have a 19% chance of making the playoffs.
Five weeks ago, they had an 88% chance.
It's actually a pretty cool tool - you can pick winners for the remaining games, and see how it affects the chances.
IF they Bills beat the Jets next, their playoff chances jump to 27%.

This was actually my friend's exact counterpoint, he wanted to have off the last day and first two of each month, for teams to participate. Here's my issue. If you have a tournament where teams are eliminated early and then start getting 3 extra days rest each month, it's a much larger competitive advantage with injuries, than the NBA. So I don't think you want teams icing lesser lineups hoping to bow out quickly. Teams are still going to be gunning for a Cup, not the trophy associated with whatever tourney is created. Does that make sense? The physical nature of the game has to position it somewhat away from Basketball. |

Because the NHLPA will oppose it, and due to the CBA they can kill it.
Too much wear and tear on the body.
Edit: I just remembered the NBA is only adding a few games - the tourney also counts as regular season. So ignore everything above. But below is still S-M-R-T!
But here's a fun fact: the NHL doesn't organize the pre-season. That's up to individual clubs. So if you wanted to organize an Atlantic Division September Cup, there's nothing stopping those teams from doing so. |

I think he has to trade at least two of them in the next year no matter what. As long as he knows that, I don't think he's beyond making a splash earlier to potentially save his job. I mean, if we're bottom 10 again, someone is getting fired. That, I would think, would exhort some action. |

The NBA tournament games also count as regular season games.
It will be interesting to see if fans give two poops about it. I know I wouldn't, if I was an NBA fan. |

Poor Matt Ellis! The big offseason move other than we just couldn't find are groove with the Injuries. So we decided to bring back Girgensons and Okposo for a fair shot to Lead a Healthy Team. |

Amazing what a GM can do when trying...
>>> The Penguins moved (almost) all their bad contracts to acquire Erik Karlsson and the only worthwhile asset they gave up was a lottery protected 1st round pick.
