Don Granato confirmed that the Sabres are leaning toward starting Eric Comrie in Winnipeg on Friday night.

Just need to get the final go-ahead from the medical staff. He'll also have to be activated off IR.

That seems like chump change for basketball salaries. I believe the average salary is closing in on $10m. Do you think there'll be that much drive for them to play hard? On top of those salaries they'd have three times the incentive to prepare for the Finals, no?

Means there's more to spend.

With the games counting for the regular season standings, kind of means they need to win some of them to even make the traditional NBA playoffs, right?

I would swap Mitts and Cozens, the Greenway line better get comfortable on the bench.

Joker should be up with either Power or Dahlin and I would try Samuelsson and Clifton as the 3rd pair and see if they can compliment each other in some capacity.

Pretty sure its Rousek

Pointed out a few times recently that KA was a 1st rounder who didn't stick in the NHL until 25. That's part of the equation here. He doesn't expect them all to stick immediately, or even get a real opportunity to.

I don't think he's planning on being proacticve on this, rather, just planning to let the kids fight it out and the losers play in Roch.

I don't see how you can carry 8D + 3G long term. Gotta make a decision on what they want to do with RJ. He can't be your 7D.

I guess, I just think the opportunity to lose money could be there too. I see what you mean though, could definitely be right.

But it isn't that much, needing to win in the tourney to make the finals, at least I don't think so. You play four games before the knockout rounds, so isn't a lose you're out situation.

In basketball, I think you may be right in that it would be more likely guys do try, seeing as there's a lesser chance of injury than the NHL or NFL. In the contact sports, I would think availability would become a consideration eventually. That's why I was thinking a preseason tourney would be better as it would allow teams to do what they wished, but add some fun to the ramp up part of the schedule.
