Oh I'm sure that is weighing heavily on him. He's in a contract year and not currently producing, stat wise, so no doubt he's thinking about that. I certainly don't expect he is going to stick at 3% but the bottom line is his next contract will be largely driven by how this season goes.

Well he has a little over a month to change how things are going this year before possibly signing an extension. If the scoring picks up then I think the low end of your range is probably about right. If it doesn't pick up I could see a 5 year $28M contract. The question will be if there are any trade/movement clauses.

And clearly the Bruins don't have any rush to sign him before the trade deadline so there is plenty of time for him to turn things around.

he's so hot and cold, coulda had 30 last year, but like 10 the year before. He is what he is, his game has rounded out to both ends, but he's a 2nd - 3rd liner.

He's too inconsistent for 5 years at that price.

His game will have to improve a lot for him to get a sniff at that kind of contract.
