agree. not saying use both 1st round and both 2nd round picks on them, but would hope for at least two out of the 4 picks to be d men.

and if we do end up trading a tk or suck, maybe a d prospect as part of the package. Minus andrae and bonk. not sure what else we have coming. Grans and ginning may be up eventually, but both have things to improve first.

I'd be ok with using 2 of the 4 picks and if they're the right player/fit, I'd be ok with using both firsts. True stud dmen are like unicorns and the best plan is to draft hopefully a couple top 4 guys. Focus in this area to increase your odds of landing a couple. Very much a weakness in the org right now IMO.

As i've mentioned, if we trade TK Sanheim, Hart or maybe others, the price has to be a very good pick or preferably a good prospect close or at the NHL level. It can't all be low first picks in 2026 or the like.

Torts: "I want to put Poehls in some offensive situations. Wanted him to play with some different people. We have 18 or 19 scoring chances against LA, and he was involved in four of them. He had a good night. I want to keep him there. I'll keep him with Laughts and Beezer."

Torts didn't mention that Poehling had 18 scoring chances against him.

Exactly why you can’t give Torts any additional players, he’s trying to develop a guy who has no future with the team…unbelievable

I think Avon will play in the NHL eventually, but I see him more as a bottom six player. Sort of on an Eric Wellwood track but hopefully he avoids any major injuries.
- bmeltzer

loved that signing at the time and have always said he has shot to be an nhl player. See how he makes out in a full year in the AHL. Doesnt seem like a torts guy though.....

So you think it makes perfect sense for Laughton to play only 10 or less minutes a game on the 4th line? You think that is good for the team and you think Laughton would be perfectly fine with it over a long stretch or an entire season?
- jd250

If you play Laughton on the 4th line and remove the Knuckle draggers, he would play more than 10 min. Needing someone like ND is one of the most overblown myths in Hockey. Exactly who has he prevented from getting hurt? No one. All these guys do is wind up fighting each other. Most of them are not cheap shot artists either, so all that is accomplished is they sit in the box with their fellow knuckle dragger, and the cheap shots are still plying their trade.

with the flyers reord with dman rather trade for a more proven nhl guy who fits into the rebuild.

What would you give up for Hanifin knowing he would agree to an ext? Would you even explore it?

i like hanifin but would want someone even younger if it was possible. he will be 27 in Jan, and will be in his 30's before we are relevant.

I'd definitely explore it. I'd say a picks and a roster player but only if extended. It will likley take some combo of trade for an unhappy player/draft picks and prospects from a trade to get where we're going.

Currently at .500 the Flyers look to get a draft pick somewhere between 10-15ish. Is there a huge drop off from the higher prospects this upcoming year or are these picks somewhat similar? Thus far the Flyers have proven to be “tough to play against” and have been somewhat entertaining.

Bill or anyone else, aside from perhaps how well Z is playing, are we encouraged, meh, or discouraged by what we’ve seen from the younger players that are part of this “rebuild”?

Someone else would have to chime in on the picks this year. I have liked the team this year and would say that Brink, Foerster York and Sanheim (although not young) have impressed me. They aren't dominating but definitely holding their own. Tippett has been ok and I have been pleasantly surprised by Walker. They're a better and more watcheable team this year for sure than they have been the last two. I also liked the recent resiliency shown after losing to SJ and then beating two very good teams on the road. This is a very good sign regarding the character they have IMO.

He’s not trying to develop anyone. He’s only trying to win. It will remain this way until they are mathematically out of the playoffs.

even then he will try to win. To an extent I get as it is his "job".

That being said he doesn't care much about 6 months form now so to speak let alone a few years. The scary part is he has a lot of pull and the right people have his back. I pray for a 2 year ext for pure entertainment.

Nice pair of roads wind against two good teams! In both games the Flyers weathered the storm early and settled things down and played good hockey. You got to give up there the coaches for emphasizing getting to the crease to score goals with the semi circle drill they did this week, the Flyers scored just about all their goals this weekend from in tight. Nice to see Frost get in the board also, that’s what he has to do to stay in the lineup!

- corduroy

Ok, so where do I state Frost has to be an all-star to stay in the lineup?

Who cares what Laughton thinks. Yes, playing the young players more over veterans such as Laughton and Atkinson is good for the team.
- MJL

So you want the team to tank then right? Just play the kids and not try to win games? Atkinson is healthy and has been one of the best Flyers' forwards on the team so far this year. Why on Earth would you ever want him to sit? Laughton should have been traded this past off-season, he is a good player that would have brought back a nice return for a rebuilding team and it would have opened up a center spot so frost would never have been benched.
