"Best defensemen since the beginning of last season at suppressing chances against by RAPM:

1. TJ Brodie
2. Jared Spurgeon
3. Chris Tanev

It makes very little sense for the Leafs to move on from Brodie to bring in Tanev and Zadorov, you add those two players *to* Brodie."

He's on track for 50(ish) assists which would be a career high.

I'm cool with that.

I also think he's looked more effective at C.

Not a horrible signing by any stretch of the imagination. He got off to a rocky start and I think that has biased a lot of opinions on his gameplay since.

I thnk Bertuzzi has looked a little better recently also.

I thought Brodie was too old and half the people here (I don't think you were one of them) had him traded/bought out this off season.

He's just what he is. Not a superstar, a steady guy.

Who cares if he requested a trade....doesnt mean they have to trade him now or ever....hes a ufa so eventually he could be.
It doesnt benefit them to trade anyone early, more teams will be interested after december.

How do you know there is no reason? Could be dozens of reasons, the whole team didn't go.

- Fakepartofme

It’s never good for the team when someone wants out.

And if Tanev gets injured they can’t trade them.

And they have a billion UFA’s. It’s not hard to do grade school math, a GM will not want to work on all these deals at once, it’s a lot and already busy enough at the TDL.

If there’s a fair deal for both defenders, CGY will take it.

Pretty obvious that a trade can be made anytime now.

Meh, this is where analytics skew the eye test. Brodie was good the first couple years but has fallen off a cliff the last year and a half. He’s been a little better this year but he isn’t a top defenseman in any realm.

He literally has a couple fumble (frank)s that lead to goals against. Also the leafs are in the bottom part of the league for goals against and Brodies cap hit isn’t good enough for what he brings to the table.

It's a stat that people like to accessorize to match their purse. Or freshly waxed vagina. or finely manicured nails. Essentially it means (frank) all but people feel posh and relevant when mentioning such things. When you see someone present these stats it's nothing more than someone saying, this really means (frank) all but I'm going to confuse to the point you think I'm smarter than you even though it's fictional nonsense that someone with insecurity issues and a small penis feels a few inches bigger and more intelligent. They don't actually believe it themselves but hope they fool you into believing it's actually something relevant.

My Xbox died a few months back so I had to get a new one, so I did.

And now there's a deal for a better Xbox with both Diablo 4 and MWlll for slightly more $$$.

I (frank)ing hate my life.

i think the eye test falls flat on its face when it comes to identifying good defense.
its mostly what doesnt happen. cross checking a guy in front of the net is not good defense.

when Brodie is on the ice this season at 5v5, the goals are 18-10
seems good. of course thats going be some luck and goalies with a small sample. But I think he is good value at 5m

Likely too early in the year for the Swedish to care enough to pack the place lol

*does some googling*

Nope, their league starts mid September, still willing to bet this is a marketing thing tho, maybe they had to wait this long to ensure Americans would watch games at that time of day?

Yeah, I’m not pretending to know but that’s likely a safe guess, and it’s something Canadians need to get used to, the scheduling of the NHL will become more and more geared towards what’s ideal for the league in the states

meh..the underlying stuff is not great. average team. pretty much every thing below 50% .. the luck stuff like sh% and a super hot goalie are crazy high.

Sorry, what I understand from this is that the jays are sleeping on Ohtani.
