My question is what changed on the PK this year that it sux so bad?

It seems as though they've gradually lost any semblance of defensive structure over the past three years. So it becomes highlighted on the pk but is a factor on 5x5 as well. It's not just a 'Barry is gone' thing either, as it started becoming an issue his last season but is now at a chaotic level. It's crept into individual player performance and decision making. Pelech for example was considered one of the best defenseman in the league just a couple of years ago but is now a train wreck defensively.

Have to think a lack of team speed and being able to keep up with the other team is a factor. Pelech and Pulock are also a little older and the minutes played start to pile up. Mayfield and Aho not being a good 3rd pair are also factors. Leddy and Toews had flaws as Islanders, but they were able to skate the puck out of trouble and that is lacking with the team.
