I am still trying to figure out what that was? 25 point 4th-liner?
I like his fire, but let’s be real, he is lanky, awkward, sucks at faceoffs, can’t throw a check, can’t cash a puck, constantly passes into people’s skates and basically is just kind of there.
I will say, Krebs/Jost/Murray should be our 4th line instead of Girgensons/Krebs/Okposo but Kevyn already took a fat dump on this season so it really doesn’t matter at this point. - Jet Jaguar BD
Eichel for:
Alex Tuch · $4,750,000 - great add, the value he brings with this contract is up in 2 seasons...what are the Sabres getting out of that window?
Peyton Krebs · $863,333 - at best an unhappy 4th liner?
2022 1st round pick (VGK - #16 - Noah Östlund) [Conditional]* - I still don't understand this draft pick or what role he will fill for the Sabres, at whatever year that is.
2023 2nd round pick (VGK - #64 - Riley Heidt) [Conditional]** - who is this guy?
Now someone please remind me how young Krebs is and how much potential he has, then explain to me how that improves the Sabres in any capacity.

Would you have traded the 16th overall pick in 22' back to Vegas for Whitecloud and Kolesar? |

Add in a 5th, which isn't a 6th so it's nothing and you get Jordan Greenway, who's been quite good for us.

Probably not.
Ostlund's a pretty impressive player. It's too bad we have to wait until hopefully March. |

What is defined as good to you?
He has 6 points in 18 games and doesn't provide energy or grit, I don't think we are on the same page when it comes to what good means.

What role is he filling, and how did you conclude March? What is he playing for the Sabres then? Those 2 players immediately improve the Sabres and alters the culture on the ice. |

I don't strictly look at points when defining a player as good. I mean that's fine you have a different opinion, but mine is based on how he tilts the ice. And he does it in our favor.
If they're good at their role, and positively impact the ice, I will say that player is good. |

I mean he's probably two years out from being a center in Buffalo. His season could potentially be over in March, and once he wraps up there, I would bet the Sabres would want to get him into the Amerks lineup for their playoff push.
I'm not against either of those players, I just think you'd have been able to get them for less than 16 OA.

Well for starters, he's been our best PKer in the past 13 years.
He's also carved out a complimentary middle 6 role where he provides positive shooting metrics vs the opposition.
We see two different players. He's analytically a difference maker, and I'd say the eye test shows that as well. So I'm not sure what you see.
Again, that's fine.
I think perhaps he does his job quietly which can kind of 'camo' his game. I'd like more offense but I'm just glad he's helpful in other facets. |

The use of individual fancy stats to justify a player on a bad team is odd. The end result is not there, hasn't been there, doesn't look to be getting there.

Too far out to say. But I see the argument. I'm not opposed to trading him.

Which circles back to my original argument against this plan 2 summers ago. The 22' 16th overall pick had significantly more value than trading Ostlund now or in a year...aka horrible asset management. The holes that could've been filled then, which are still open now, will cost more to close.
For example, would Vegas trade Kolesar and Whitecloud for Noah Ostlund today? |

The summer of 2022 was vastly different than the winter of 23 in respects to where this team was. We know this.

In a couple years, when he's ready, Mitts, Krebs, Olo, Girgs, Okposo, Greenway, Jost and unfortunately Tuch, may all be gone. There's going to be room for these kids IF they get there. We'll see Kulich and Rosen next year, Benson is already here. So we'll have him and Savoie to either use as trade chips or replace the production of one of the above.
Skinner Tage Quinn
Peterka Cozens Benson
Savoie Kulich Rosen
Big MF Murrrrrrrrrrrrr Wahlberg Cederqvist?
You could have a new kids line if you wanted. But that top9 is going to be able to produce some goals, that's for sure. Leaves a lot of cap to add a RHD and resign everyone necessary.
And in all seriousness, by then, if we have this many ELCs working, you can take on a couple higher priced defensive forwards to replace guys like Murr and Cederqvist if you want. Really just depends on defensive spending. |

Maybe. They have no prospects of real value. But they're also trying to win and aren't willing to make that kind of sacrifice.
So while the value favors the Knights, they would say no.
